baby #2: week 38

38 Weeks Pregnant
december 9 - 15

what has been going on this week: 38 weeks? eeeek! the suspense is killing me :)  but i'm feeling oddly relaxed about things. probably because i know the real chaos will begin once we are taking care of two littles. we kept busy all week with lots of cookie decorating and holiday parties.

size of baby: he weighs around 7 lbs and measures close to 20 inches long. the size of a leek.

maternity clothes: squeezing into what few clothes still fit. my leggings are much more comfortable than my maternity jeans these days.

purchases: nothing, i don't think?

nursery: hung another picture since last week. still left: hang canvases and shelves. so antsy for it to be done!

symptoms: lots of braxton hicks, a few painful contractions and cramps. ah, end of pregnancy, so fun ;)

movement: he is running out of room, but still fairly active at certain points in the day.

gender: little man!

food cravings/aversions: still can't get enough clementines....or ho ho mint mochas. looking forward to eating deli meat, seafood, and soft cheeses to my heart's content very soon!

morning sickness: still that liiiiitle bit of nausea in the morning. one thing i won't miss about pregnancy.

what i miss: sleeping well. guess that's not gonna happen for a while though :)

best moment of the week: carrying him one more week and savoring his little wiggles.

what thatcher is saying: we are both just wrapping our heads around the fact that we will have two kids very soon! and wondering with each contraction is if it's the start of the real thing.

sleep: as i mentioned above, it's pretty crappy these days between contractions, bathroom trips, and general achey-ness from laying on my sides all night.

what i'm looking forward to: my parents come home from florida (where they've been for the last 6 weeks) tonight! woo hoo!

doctor: fair warning - skip this paragraph if you don't wanna hear the current state of my cervix. still here...? ok, so i went into the doctor this morning and she checked me and says "oh you're at a good 4cm!" ummmm whoa! (i was 1cm the last 2 weeks). not really sure how i'm not in labor right now. on the one hand, it's exciting that so much of the work is out of the way before the real ''fun" begins, but now i'm terrified of getting to the hospital in time/it being too late for drugs. eek! i feel like a ticking time bomb!

temperature: 0 degrees...plus more snow!

4 cm!! That's awesome! I was 4cm dilated for a few days before Adam was born, and like you, I had that ticking time bomb feeling! lol I was a little anxious those last few days!

Praying for a healthy baby and Mama! Just listen to and trust your body- you've done this before and you will do a great job! I am beyond excited for you, and I am totally on baby watch from all the way here in California, lol!
