this picture pretty much sums up my weekend

warning: whiny post ahead. i should have known i wouldn't escape without getting sick. here is a list of things i had to miss out on this weekend because i caught the mother of all colds from azalea: getting a pedicure, blogger get together, tegan's 2nd birthday party, and a superbowl party. oh, and not to mention i was solo parenting for a good chunk of the weekend because thatcher was taking a class friday evening, all day saturday, and half of sunday. there are not many things harder than parenting a toddler when you are sick. i have one of those colds that takes everything out of you: watery eyes, runny/stuffy nose, cough, sinus pressure (but no fever luckily!)

friday evening i started feeling like i was getting sick, but hoped with a good night's sleep it would go away. no luck! saturday i had planned on dropping off azalea at thatcher's parents' and then getting a pedicure and doing some shopping, but i ended up taking a nap for 2 hours after i dropped her off. i managed to run one errand before picking her up. i was popping dayquil all day in hopes that i would feel well enough for my blogger get together at kelly's that night, but 15 mins before it started i was still feeling awful, so i had to cancel. :( i'm very thankful for the time that my in-laws spent taking care of azalea! i couldn't have made it through the day without them.

sunday i woke up still feeling crappy. thatcher asked if i wanted him to stay home from his class, but i told him he should go. i only made it about an hour with azalea before i was begging him to come back. i felt bad, but i just couldn't do it. he came back and i laid down and slept for three hours! thatcher and azalea went to tegan's birthday party. i was sad i couldn't go. thatcher was a saint and entertained azalea most of the afternoon, so i could rest. all of a sudden around 4:00, i realized i didn't feel like death anymore. exciting! i didn't want to push it, so azalea and i stayed home from the super bowl party we were invited to and thatcher went on his own. i ate some chicken noodle soup and watched the game commercials with this sweet girl:
