cabin weekend

i've been going to my best friend kelli's cabin since i was a kid and it's one of my favorite things about summer. you can read about last year here. thatcher got to join the tradition when he came along and i've been looking forward to taking azalea for the last few months. i've been up there for many of my birthdays (july 3rd) and 4th of julys! the best part is, it's only a little over an hour away. so we packed up the car (oh my, lots to pack with a baby!) and headed out to join kelli's family, my family, and some family friends.

i rode in the front with thatcher for most of the trip, but i joined azalea in the back for the last little bit. don't worry we weren't driving when this was taken :)

thatcher insisted that we stop in a little town called litchfield, which was 25 miles out of the way (don't ask me why, he's just crazy!). i was pretty annoyed about it at first, but it soon became a big joke. this is good old litchfield. exciting right?

of course when we got there, the first order of business was to get miss azalea into her swim suit. here's her "auntie" kelli holding her while everyone awwwwwed :)

my brother and me. i can thank azalea for getting him to come!

apparently azalea knows how to do silly pictures already. smart girl!

i couldn't wait to get her in the water since she loves baths so much, but apparently minnesota lake water isn't quite as warm. we just dipped her feet and then she was done. i have a feeling she will be more of a water girl next year.

she still managed to have some fun with kelli, though!

here's most of the gang hanging out on a gorgeous day

she took lots of naps outside in the nice breeze (can't blame her!)

a bunch of us went out for a ride on the speed boat. azalea stayed on land for this one.

here's the fruit pizza i requested for my birthday, made by thatcher. pay no attention to that silly number on there ;)

this morning, azalea woke up way before every one else, so we took her for a little walk in her jammies. we put her straight in the stroller (instead of in her carrier) and she loved it! she's looked like such a big girl!

she also had her first boat ride on the pontoon. she really seemed to like it...and as an added bonus, it put her to sleep! :)

all in all, it was a great weekend! it's sort of a bummer that we have to work tomorrow and therefore had to come home on the 4th. this is the first year (ever?) that i am not going to see fireworks. azalea is sound asleep in her crib after a weekend of fun in the sun and i'm not far behind!
