first groomer visit, thatcher work travel, sick weekend

 last monday winnie had her first visit to a groomer. we went with a place a couple friends recommended to us. since she's still young, they do a 'puppy session' to help her get used to it. they mostly concentrate on their face, paws, and 'sanitary areas'. she was a little confused/nervous when i dropped her off, but the lady said she did a great job. she was there for almost 3 hours! they sent me this picture to let me know she was ready and i burst out laughing. 

her hair was silky smooth and fluffy...like a doggy blow out :) 

tuesday morning thatcher left super early to fly to seattle for work. he's now been there twice since we moved and will be there again in may. lucky dude. i met up with my friend diana for lunch at 'starling' and enjoyed catching up with her and a delicious meal. ashford had piano on zoom in the evening. azalea and i were cracking up about how intense winnie was about chewing her rawhide, she kept climbing azalea to get the best angle on it. ha! 

 in the evening, the kids and i had plans to go out for dinner with my brother (no, i don't usually go out twice in one day. ha!). we went to 'hazelwood' and had a fun time together. i think we have started a new tradition of going out for dinner with unkie each time thatcher goes on a work trip :)

wednesday azalea had stage crew in the evening. ashford and i watched 'the sandlot.' i hadn't seen it in forever and forgot how great it is. we always end the night with winnie on our bed before she goes in her sleep crate. 

thursday was a long day and i was ready for thatcher to come back :) i was able to get out for a couple hours to do some shopping, but otherwise it was a lot of winnie time. i got a new purse, spring top, and swimsuit for summer. why did i feel the need to buy that in february? who knows but i'm ready! 

at the end of the long day, winnie refused to go into her crate to sleep for the first time since the week we got her. i was too tired to fight her, so i let her sleep in my bed. i'm sure she loved it, but it wasn't the most restful night for me. 

friday i started feeling like i had a cold coming on, but i hoped it would fizzle out (yeah right). i picked up thatcher from the airport and got through my day. azalea went to her friend sylvia's after school. thatcher, ashford, and i had dinner and watched another 90's baseball movie, 'rookie of the year.' we were able to get winnie to sleep in her crate again. whew! 

saturday morning i woke up with a full-blown head cold. :( the worst part was having to cancel two things i had planned to do that day: volunteering at an event at the high school and going to my friend jackie's for a girls night. but i was in no shape to do either. i tried to rest as much as i could. azalea had stage crew for four hours at school. thatcher ran errands and walked winnie. she is always making us laugh and i'm so thankful for her. 

azalea made us microwave mug cakes for dessert. yum! 

after that we continued our streak of 90s baseball movies this week with watching 'angels in the outfield.' it's been so fun to re-watch all these movies from my childhood.

sunday i still felt sick. we had our normal sunday morning breakfast. i mostly laid low all day and slept for a while in the afternoon. i got a lot of reading in too. no complaints there! thatcher held down the fort with walking winnie, getting groceries, managing the kids, and cooking.

azalea captured this sweet picture of our girl. 

now it's march and that is giving me new life! it's going to be in the 40s all week and 50s next week. i know we could still have some winter left, but we are moving in the right direction. i am looking forward to all this spring and summer has in store for us.
