e-learning day, shrek the musical, seventy degrees

 i already mentioned that last monday the kids had an e-learning day due to the snow. there was no live instruction, but their teachers posted assignments for them to work on and also had attendance questions. both kids finished up before lunch - perfect. i had an impromptu visit to the vet with winnie to get her weighed for a routine medication she's on - 22 lbs! our big girl. she officially turned 6 months over the weekend, and we've had her for 4 months now. wow!

tuesday it was 1 degree outside in the morning, so i drove azalea to school (hurry up, spring!)

wednesday we had a basement water mitigation guy here for 3.5 hours. the pump and battery they installed in the creepy crawl space of our basement stopped working, so he was diagnosing that and putting a new one in. never a dull moment in homeownership. our snow started to melt as it was in the 40s this day. woo hoo! 

i love how you can see the line where the sun had been hitting, which moved over the course of the day.

thursday azalea kicked off another weekend (the final one) of shrek performances. i told her i needed an official stage crew picture of her :) 

i had my kenny moms book club at 7pm that night. it was held at a woman named megan's house in our old neighborhood. i've been to a few of these meetups now and it's nice to feel like people's faces and names are becoming more familiar to me. it's such a nice group of women. after azalea's show, she had an outing to IHOP with the cast and crew (i guess it's tradition). she got a ride there, but we were on standby to pick her up. she ended up being there until just after midnight. i'm so not used parenting at that hour, but i'm sure it will become more common as my kids are getting older. 

friday the kids had no school in honor of eid. it makes me so happy that the schools here give days off for non-christian holidays too. azalea had a babysitting gig at my friend jess's from 10-4! then she had another shrek performance in the evening. the rest of us weren't nearly as busy :) it got up to 63 degrees and we grilled burgers for dinner. 

saturday we had a one-day trip to summer. it randomly got up to 78 degrees and it was glorious! we spent a ton of time outside. azalea tried out the new rollerblades she got for christmas. i was worried she might have outgrown them already, but they fit. 

 i ran and errands and prepped the house for our friends karen and will to come for dinner. they arrived shortly after i dropped off azalea at school for shrek. we made a chicken pesto pasta, salad, and focaccia. then all of us headed to the high school to see the show. it was such a great production. back when we went there, the kids (actors, dancers, musicians, and tech) were super talented and i'm happy to report that has remained the same, but you can tell the set and costumes are so much more professional now. it was fun to try to spot azalea changing out the scenery when the lights were down. i'm so glad she got to experience this and hope she continues to do it through out high school. 

sunday was a total downer of a weather day. the temp dropped 40 degrees and it was overcast. wah. i took azalea to target in the morning. then i dropped her off for her very last shrek performance. she also had the cast and crew party after, so she was at school for 8 hours. she's sad it's all over now, but maybe a little relieved to get some time back. azalea turns 15 this week and she is officially taller than me now! thatcher even got out a level to prove it! haha.
