last monday was our first full day of staying at my mom's. i drove ashford to and from school and azalea had a slighter shorter walk than from our house. we watched the mariners win another playoff game in the evening. woo hoo!
tuesday was the last day of school for the week before MEA break. we had a beautiful sunrise to start the day, but then it rained all day and barely reached 50 degrees.

while the kids were at school. i attended a funeral for an old neighbor from my mom's block whose daughter i used to babysit all the time when i was a teenager. i went with two of my mom's other neighbors. i hadn't seen her daughter for many years, but she seemed so thankful that we came, and we all reminisced about life on the block in the 90s.
in the evening, thatcher and i attended conferences with two of ashford's teachers at his school. azalea's school had conferences that night too, but it was first come first served, so we decided it wasn't worth waiting. both kids are doing well at school academically. i ended the night with my annual viewing of 'casper' :)
wednesday was the first day of MEA break (still getting used to all new school breaks). thatcher got a call from our floor guy in the morning that there was water in our basement. yes, after we paid to have it waterproofed. never a dull moment! in the afternoon i went and visited kelli's parents across the street to hear about their recent trip to ireland. then azalea had a well check up with our new pediatrician. later azalea's friend nick got dropped off to go to the madilyn mei concert with us. i drove the two of them over to st. paul to the 'amsterdam bar and grill'. madilyn mei is very theatrical and all of their fans dress up in circus/clown/animal wear. it was really fun to be a part of. azalea and nick were able to snag spots really close to the stage, but i wanted to sit in a chair in the back like an old lady ;) thankfully lots of other moms had the same idea, so i ended up talking to fellow moms all night and it was really fun. the show was great too! azalea and nick were over the moon about the whole experience so that was worth a million bucks.

the show was done by 9pm, which was the icing on the cake. thatcher and ashford had their own little date to 'coconut thai' for dinner.
thursday morning azalea had an appointment with our new orthodontist. we've come to the end of our invisalign supply from seattle, so they are making more for her for the next 12 months. i took the kids to dick's and kohl's to look for some new clothes for ashford (success!) and we also went to culver's for lunch :) in the evening, thatcher and i went over to our house to see our finished floors. they look beautiful, but it's still very stinky, so i'm glad we were not staying there. thatcher and i finished the night with a movie back at my mom's.
friday morning i dropped off azalea at my friend caylia's for a babysitting gig. ashford and i hung out at my mom's. i did invoicing for work and we played a little basketball. the trees are finally peaking here, later than usual, i think. but they are spectacular right now.
in the afternoon i ran some errands, including buying a new rug for our dining room that ended up being too big for the space, so it's getting returned. then the kids and i headed to my brother's for chinese take-out and another mariners game, which they WON! it was a really exciting game with a home run followed by a grand slam in the same inning. thatcher stayed home and picked up my mom from the airport.
saturday morning thatcher, the kids, and i walked up to walgreens for our annual flu shot. then thatcher and i had some banking stuff to take care of. in the afternoon we packed up all of our stuff to bring back to our house. it felt like coming home from a big vacation. the floors turned out beautiful.
thatcher and ashford did some yardwork and we grilled hot dogs/brats for dinner.
we ended the night with starting season 2 of 'wednesday'.
sunday we mostly had no plans. this was the quietest weekend we've had since we moved here. we made biscuits and eggs for breakfast and thatcher and i went to homegoods to return the too-large rug and get a slightly smaller one. i'll take a picture once we get the table and chairs set up again. in the afternoon we decided to have a fire in our backyard fire pit. we even got supplies for smores. it was the perfect day for it, a little chilly with the trees really showing off.
after dinner, ashford and i headed to my brother's to watch yet another mariners game. they were 3-2 in the series and we were hoping this game would send them to the world series, but unfortunately they lost. better luck tonight!
