we are down to the last few days of school. june is always a whirlwind, and this year is no exception. it's even more busy because of the soon-to-be graduates.
last monday thatcher and i celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. celebrated should be in quotes because we had the most normal monday ever. went to school/work, made dinner, thatcher took azalea to t-mobile to pick out a smart phone (she's had a gabb kid phone for the last 3 years). i'll take a billion boring anniversaries with him because they've added up to a really great life. :)
tuesday ashford had piano. it will continue for the summer (when we are in town) too.
wednesday morning i met my friend beth for coffee and a treat at rosselini's. it's an amazing bakery in ballard that i have only been to once before. i didn't realize they had this pretty little patio out back. it was nice to catch up with her.
at lunch time, i went over to ashford's school for the 5th grade yearbook signing picnic planned by the graduation committee (i was a part of). we had 'dick's' burgers catered, chips, fruit, and ice cream for the kids. it wasn't the warmest day, but it stayed dry. the kids loved it so much, so that felt really good. and their yearbooks were really fun to look at.
thursday was thatcher's 43rd birthday. considering i've known him since he was 19, he's really getting up there - haha! it was another fairly normal day of school/work, but we tried to make it special too. we made spaghetti for dinner. we made him a cake in the afternoon, and he frosted it :) he opened his gifts. ashford got his gabb phone in the mail. a new era.
friday thatcher took the day off to go up to the property. ashford had his last field day ever. normally i would volunteer, but with all the extra 5th grade stuff this month, i decided to skip it. our friends dani and sebastian hosted a bunch of moms/boys for happy hour hang out in their yard in the afternoon. then we came home for dinner with thatcher and he and i went for a walk.
saturday my mom came into town! but not until the evening. during the day ashford went to the ballard little league picnic (for all the teams) with some of his buddies and one of their dads. i took azalea to target to look for a dress for graduation. my mom's flight got in at 5:00. we came back from the airport and thatcher made homemade pizza for us. ashford showed us all of his art projects he brought home, and they played some yahtzee.
sunday was father's day. thatcher made us a big breakfast like every sunday. (i swear he likes doing it). waffles, eggs, hashbrowns, bacon. then we headed to richmond beach because it was a beautiful day. got a cute picture of thatcher and the kids.
in the afternoon, thatcher walked most of the way back from the beach (7 of 9 miles). his father's day wish :) my mom, azalea, and i went out shopping in ballard. we made greek chicken gyros for dinner and hung out at home the rest of the night.
i'll save all the last week of school fun for next monday :)
