last monday azalea headed off to her first day of 'counselor in training' volunteer duty at boys and girls club. she was with kindergarteners all week, which she loves. she will be doing this for the first 3 weeks of summer. ashford and i had a chill day at home together. it felt nice.
tuesday started off with no plans for ashford and me. he asked if he could see his friend raleigh, so i made that happen. they hung out at our house for a while, then i took them to interbay to do mini golf.
after that, we got lunch at 'pagliacci pizza.' in the late afternoon, ashford had piano.
wednesday ashford and i got together with vanessa and ewan since they move back to canada on july 1st. we went to 'flat stick pub' in south lake union. we had lunch and the boys played mini golf (yes, more mini golf). vanessa's husband matt stopped by too because his office is close to the restaurant. it was nice to see him and say goodbye. i still had one last hurrah with vanessa to go on friday.
the boys were 1 year old when they moved here and now they are 11! time flies!
vanessa is one of the kindest souls i have ever met. i'm so glad the universe brought us both to seattle in 2015 so we could have 10 years of friendship together in the same city. and i will continue to see her over the years to come because she is a forever friend.
wednesday ended up being a really busy day because thatcher and i also had dinner plans. he has kept in touch with paula, the head of the urban studies department at the u of m since graduating in 2005 and she recently retired, so she's traveling around the country, visiting former students and celebrating with them. we had a nice group dinner at 'elliot's oyster house' on the water. then we walked along the waterfront. it was a beautiful night.
thursday was more relaxing. ashford and i hung out at home in the morning. in the afternoon he met up with a bunch of buddies at the park and then they went to starryn's house. it actually rained a bunch, which hasn't happened in a while. i guess we do need it ;)
friday ashford and i hung out at home for most of the day. in the midafternoon i went to pick up vanessa to go to our friend erica's for the evening. our group of five friends wanted one last get together before vanessa moves. we had a little going away party for her. meredith had custom shirts made and we all wore them. we made salmon, greek salad, and garlic bread for dinner, and we savored the last time the five of us will be together for a long time. erica's dog walker helped us do a little photo shoot.
saturday morning thatcher went up to the property and the kids and i mostly hung out at home. the weather got nice again, so i spent a lot of time reading on the deck. we're halfway through the year and i've read 32 books. that's probably a record for me. ashford hung out with fritz and arlo for a while in the afternoon. when thatcher got back, the four of us went to 'uneeda burger' for dinner. then we finished the night watching the minecraft movie :)
sunday morning thatcher made us pancakes and bacon. then azalea, and her friends sisi & bridget and i hopped on the bus to go to the pride parade downtown. i've only been to it once before, the summer we moved here. it was so much fun and such a happy, loving environment to be in! we all loved it. we also got lunch at 'asean food hall' which i've been meaning to try for ages.
we were hot and tired when we got back in the afternoon. we hung out at home the rest of the day.
this week is another week of CIT for azalea, my birthday, and the 4th of july!
