teacher appreciation, kirkland hotel overnight, mother's day

 last monday i helped out with teacher appreciation week at ashford's school. the week before that i went to one of the recesses to have kids write notes for their teachers to hang in the staff lounge. then on monday, i went and put them up. they were so cute to read. and other pta parents did the breakfast table. all these 'lasts' at the elementary school are feeling really bittersweet right now. 

tuesday was warm! it got to 79 degrees - the warmest day of the year so far. ashford had piano after school. thatcher and i took an evening walk like we do most nights when it's not raining.

wednesday morning i had brunch with my friends kay and rebekah at 'sabine'. it was nice to catch up with them during this hectic spring time. the kids both hung out with friends after school. 

thursday evening ashford had a game. they tied the other team 5-5. 

friday in the late afternoon i hosted a graduation planning meeting with some moms from the elementary school. 5 weeks to go! 

saturday morning we slept in and then thatcher headed off to redmond for a light rail opening event. i hung out with the kids for the morning and then headed out for a hotel overnight in kirkland with friends. a little mother's day weekend self-care :) heather and meredith met up with us at a shopping area until check-in time. then we all headed to the hotel to meet erica. after we checked in, we went down to the restaurant for happy hour and some appetizers. 

my lavender haze drink came with an edible flower. 

we had the receptionist take some pictures of us before we left for dinner. 

the earliest reservation we could get for the restaurant we wanted to go to was 8:15pm. but the restaurant was great, so it was worth it. 

then we went back to the hotel and chatted into the wee hours of the night. 

sunday morning i couldn't sleep past 6:15am, which is not ideal when sharing a room with (sleeping) friends. i ended up showering and going out to the lobby to read my book :) 

once more people were up, erica and i walked across the street to a bakery cafe to get coffee and pastries for everyone for breakfast. we didn't want to deal with the crowds at brunch places. after that, we walked over to the waterfront park for a bit and then it was time to check out of the hotel and head home. i'm so thankful to have these ladies in my life and glad we were able to make this happen. 

i came home to my kids (and thatcher) who showered me with affection for mother's day :) i asked for a picture with them because i love to get one of us every year. 

they also got me some fun gifts. ashford bought these peanut butter m&ms (my favorite candy) with his own money (!), thatcher had this custom mug made and we were laughing so hard when i opened it. ashford calls me "mommy emu". and finally, thatcher booked a puppy yoga session for azalea and me. yes, yoga with the addition of adorable puppies who roam around. we can't wait! 

thatcher made homemade pizza for dinner and brownies with marshmallow frosting for dessert. yum! the weekend definitely flew by!
