more allergies, happy hour hang out, layover visitors

azalea had a rough first half of the week last week. she had to be off allergy medication leading up to her allergy appointment and the pollen levels are high right now and she felt miserable. :(

last monday evening ashford had baseball practice. it was at the field by our house for the first time this season. they have been putting in turf since last summer, so it's nice to have it finally ready for use.

tuesday ashford had piano.

wednesday was azalea's allergy appointment. i had to pick her up from school early for it. they didn't end up doing any allergy testing this time, so she could have actually stayed on the meds, but i guess it was good for the doctor to see her without them. i feel so bad for her this time of year. that evening ashford had a game. they lost 5-13, which was a bummer, but ashford got some hits. his friends were playing on the other field, so we went to see them after the game.

thursday afternoon kay and i met with the 5th grade teachers to check in on planning the end of year activities. we had no extra curriculars in the evening. it got to 70 degrees, which felt great. i spent a lot of time on the deck :)

friday azalea found out she's officially 'hired' as a (volunteer) counselor in training for the boys and girls club summer program. in the afternoon rebekah invited arlo and ashford's friend group + all the moms to their yard for happy hour/hang out for the boys. we ended up staying through dinner because they ordered pizza for everyone. it was a lot of fun.

thatcher and i went for a walk when we got back and then watched a movie with the kids.

saturday morning we got to sleep in. azalea and i planned to hang out with our minnesota friends karen and will who had an 8-hour layover in seattle on their way home from asia. i love when this happens! they came to our place to drop off their bags and then we walked to 'lockspot cafe' and got lunch, we also walked to the locks and after not seeing them at first, the seals popped up and we got to watch them play, which is always fun.

then we walked over to ballard avenue before coming back to our house. i took them back to the airport in the late afternoon. ashford and thatcher went to ashford's noon game, which they won. it was the first one i've missed this year, but that's ok. we ended the night with dinner, a walk for thatcher and me, and a movie for all of us.

sunday morning we slept in then made eggs and biscuits for breakfast. in the afternoon ashford had baseball pictures, which he went to with fritz and his dad. and thatcher and i went to azalea's soccer game. it's only the second game she's played this spring. thankfully the off season is very relaxed. they won their game 3-2.

we relaxed at home the rest of the day and made vietnamese rice noodle bowls for dinner.

now onto a new week!
