last elementary pta meeting + moveathon, syttende mai parade

 last monday evening ashford had baseball practice. 

tuesday he had piano followed by a baseball game. i'm glad we haven't had many tuesday games, it was a lot going straight from one activity to the next. they lost their game 8-12, but were losing 0-8 earlier in the game, so it sort of felt like a nice comeback. :)

wednesday morning i met up with vanessa in ballard to try out a new smoothie bowl place that just opened called 'nautical bowls.' it's actually a twin-cities-based business, so it was already on my radar. the bowls were delicious! i will definitely be back. 

we had no activities wednesday evening. 

thursday evening i had my final pta general meeting at the elementary school. eek! kay and i went to give some updates on yearend/graduation stuff. then we went to olaf's for a drink and to catch up :) 

friday was the annual moveathon fundraiser at ashford's school. it was forecasted to be cool and wet, but thankfully the rain held off. it was fun to watch the 5th graders and hang out with the parents, but also sad to have yet another 'last' checked off the list. 

in the evening, ashford had a game in magnolia. he pitched again for a couple of innings and got a double and an RBI. unfortunately they lost 4-13. 

after the game, we went out for thai for dinner in magnolia. 

saturday was syttende mai (norwegian constitution day) and the big parade in ballard. in the morning thatcher left to do a big cross-city walk event (unrelated to the holiday) and the kids slept in. we spent the morning and part of the afternoon at home. ashford's friend arlo came over to to go the parade with us and azalea went to sisi's for her 14th birthday celebration. the boys and i headed out for the parade....in the rain :( i don't think it's ever actually rained for the parade in the 10 years we've lived here. they also moved the parade time from 6pm to 4pm, which felt weird. but the rain couldn't take away the fun of my favorite day of the year in our neighborhood. we met up with kay and her family and some of their friends visiting from out of town. 

after the parade, we came home, made some dinner and watched a movie. thatcher returned from his 20 mile (!!!) walk from the northern border of seattle to the southern border. he had a great time and met some nice people. 

sunday we had no plans and it was honestly kind of a long/struggly day. for no real reason. ok, maybe kid bickering was part of it ;) azalea came home from sisi's. i went to the grocery store. i read my book a bunch. the sun came out, but it wasn't all that warm. just one of those days. 

thatcher's parents are coming to visit tomorrow for a week and we are very excited for that!
