it was a bit rough transitioning back to school last week. having to get up at 6:30/7:00am in the dark is not fun, but the days are slowly getting brighter now, so that will help. january is my least favorite month of the year, so i'm always looking for ways to make it more enjoyable or at least move it along faster. one thing i do for fun is cleaning out all of our closets and drawers (yes, this is fun for me) :) it feels so good to get rid of long expired medicines, pantry food, clothes i no longer wear, clothes the kids have outgrown, etc. the weather has also been super mild and dry, so no complaints there.
last tuesday ashford was back to piano lessons. i've been so impressed with how he's taken to piano. he practices multiple times a day (without me asking), and he's looked up how to play parts of songs and taught himself. his teacher is great too and also seems impressed by ashford's natural aptitude for playing.
wednesday after school the kids and i drove to lynnwood to make a return at kohls and also went to crumbl cookies. i went there for the first time a couple months ago with vanessa and the kids wanted to try it. admittedly it wasn't as good as the first time i had it, but still fun to try some different flavors.
thursday i had to pick up azalea a little early from school for an orthodontist appointment. she's had her invisalign for about a month now. the orthodontist said she's doing a great job with it. we go back at the end of january for them to add rubber bands.
friday we had no plans after the school/work day. we made dinner and watched a movie with the kids.
saturday was busy! in the morning, thatcher dropped off ashford at an escape room in belltown for ewan's 11th birthday party. azalea and i ran some errands. her friend penny came over in the afternoon and the girls got to work baking red velvet cupcakes.
ashford had to be picked up at the end of the party and taken right to his baseball clinic. i came home while he was there and then picked him up again 90 minutes later. whew! we normally don't have that much running around in a day. after penny left, we had leftovers for dinner and watched a movie.
sunday morning we made waffles, eggs, and bacon for breakfast. thatcher and ashford ran an errand in the morning. i picked up ramen from 'umami' for azalea and me for lunch. she had been begging me lately ;) in the afternoon, ashford went to his friend sebi's with a couple other friends and they made the rounds to everyone's house except ours. i guess we'll host next time. raleigh's mom took them to 7-11 on the way home.
we hung out at home the rest of the night and got ready for a new week ahead.
ashford starts basketball this week! excited to see how that goes.
