camp week + a quiet weekend

i mentioned that the kids were both in day camp at boys and girls club last week. azalea had simone (and some other kids she knew from elementary school) there with her. ashford had his friend ewan. they got to go on lots of fun field trips including wild waves amusement park, family fun center, golden gardens, the aquarium, and pike place market.

after a month straight of the three of us being together, i made the most of my kid-free week. of course i had bookkeeping work, grocery shopping, cleaning the house/laundry, and all that boring grown up stuff to do, but i also managed to fit in lunch with vanessa (a belated birthday celebration for her), brunch with kay, some fun shopping, netflix, and i went to the gym twice.

ashford went to karate on monday and wednesday night. there is a studio-wide belt test scheduled for september 23rd. exciting stuff!

friday night after thatcher got home from work we had leftovers/frozen pizza for dinner and watched 'back to the future 2'. also azalea came home from the last day of camp with this hilarious face paint job. she asked for a croissant in a french accent :) we had no plans going into the weekend.

saturday morning the air got smoky again, so it wasn't very pleasant to be outside. but thatcher needed to go up to our property to water the trees anyway. the kids and i held down the fort at home. i took them to the library and starbucks in the morning. we hung out at home all afternoon. thatcher picked up thai for dinner on his way back into town. he also brought back a ton of grapes from our property. they are a little tart, but really good!

sunday morning we made eggs and biscuits for breakfast. the smoke was a little better, but it was another hot day. we probably don't have many of those left. thatcher and azalea went to wash the car in the morning.

fritz came over in the afternoon to hang out with ashford. we made dinner and relaxed the rest of the night. my social media is full of kids going back to school (and the minnesota state fair!). school starts september 6th here. 9 days to go!
