thatcher in phoenix and the syttende mai celebration

last monday azalea went to the pediatrician for her seasonal allergies. the doctor thinks her skin reaction is immune system based. she gave us some new ideas things to try at home and things seem to be moving in the right direction. we'll see what the allergist says next month. of course last week there was also smoke in the air from wildfires in bc, which is bothersome. sighhh.

tuesday morning thatcher left for a 3 night trip to phoenix for a conference planning meeting. it's 100 degrees every day there right now. wow! it was sunny and in the 70s here almost every day last week. it felt so nice but it's also worrisome considering it should still be cool and rainy to help ward off the wildfires which typically happen later in the summer and are already happening :/ i've been living on my deck lately. it's my happy place.

wednesday was syttende mai (norwegian constitution day). the best day of the year in ballard! our friends went down to put out chairs for the parade at 7:30 am (11 hours early) and the spots were already filling in. by 4pm our street was closed so they could start staging the floats. i sat on my deck and listened to various high school marching bands warming up - so fun. we met friends along 24th ave shortly before the parade began at 6pm. it was a really fun time as always, it's like a giant neighborhood party.

azalea watched from sisi's house and her mom sent me this cute picture of them.

thursday evening ashford had a baseball game. they ended with a tie (their first one). we'll take it :)

friday evening ashford went to 'parents night out' at school. thatcher was en route back from phoenix, so azalea and i went on a little date. i took her to 'crackle mi' for dinner, which was delish. then we walked over to 'salt and straw' for ice cream. i was so full after that. i love getting to have one on one time with her, especially because i know it is going to become less frequent the older she gets. thatcher arrived home around 8:30 and we are so happy to have him back. when i picked up ashford from 'pno' the sky was so pretty:

saturday morning we lounged around at home then the kids and i took a trip to the library. ashford had a baseball game at 12:30 at gilman field, which we all went to. it was a beautiful day but there was no shade there so the sun zapped all of our energy. they lost their game too. we relaxed at home the rest of the afternoon. we made dinner and then watched a movie with the kids.

sunday morning we made biscuits for breakfast and enjoyed a lazy morning. we did some projects around the house. in the afternoon we dropped off ashford for a playdate at his friend starryn's and then headed to azalea's soccer game in NE seattle. the girls started off strong and were winning 2-1 at half time. but they ended up losing 2-5, which was a huge bummer for them :(

we hung out at home the rest of the day. it rained in the evening, which was much-needed!

my mom comes on wednesday this week. and we are going to see james taylor on thursday night!
