valentine's day, pedicures, counting down the hours

last tuesday was valentine's day. ashford had a party in his class for the last hour of the day. he went with easy 'blow pop' valentines to give out this year. he came home with these decorated cookies and a bunch of cute valentines/candies from his classmates. it was azalea's first year without an official celebration at school, but some of her friends did give her valentines. she did not want to do any this year.

we made hoagie sandwiches for dinner. we don't go too crazy for valentine's day over here, but i always get the kids a small gift.

and thatcher always makes us a chocolate souffle. yum!

friday night we got thai takeout from 'thai siam' and watched 'true spirit'' with the kids on netflix. it was about the 16 year old aussie girl who sailed around the world solo in 2009-2010. it was really good!

saturday morning ashford had a birthday party for his friend raleigh, so azalea and i had our own little date. first we went to cupcake royale. she got red velvet and i got a cinnamon roll cupcake which was so good.

then we had an appointment to get pedicures. this was her third time going. i usually let her do it before a florida vacation :) it was so nice and relaxing.

it was already a busy day, but ashford and i also were invited to his friend cameron's to hang out with him and his mom in the afternoon. we hadn't seen them (outside of school) in forever, so it was really nice to catch up. when we got home, we made chicken gyros for dinner and watched another movie.

sunday was for the most part vacation prep day. we made eggs and biscuits for breakfast and lounged around in the morning. lots of laundry, packing, and crossing off to-dos. the kids and i broke up the day with a visit to vanessa and ewan's.

my mom said it's getting steamy down there just in time for our visit. i don't love hot and humid weather, but i do when it's for a week in february :) see you on the other side!
