spring concert, school fundraiser, kid weekend

last tuesday was a great day. i had seen on instagram on monday that james taylor was coming to chateau st. michelle winery in woodinville, wa in may. my mom and i love him and have both seen him in concert a few times, but it's been many many years. my mom usually visits in may, so i thought i'd take a crack at getting tickets for us. i signed up for an account on his website, so i could access the pre-sale. two minutes after it opened, i had secured our tickets. we can't wait!

after that, i met vanessa at goodwill and then we went to a coffee shop we've both driven by a million times in the last 7 years, but had never been to. it was really cute. a classic seattle spot.

wednesday evening kay invited the kids and me over for pizza since thatcher was still out of town and her husband had a work dinner. it was so nice! after dinner, the kids and i left to go pick up thatcher at the airport. we are happy to have him home again. ashford bought a new stuffed animal (a sloth) with some birthday money and it arrived on wednesday, so it took a ride to the airport with us. i already know one of my favorite memories of my kids being young will be their love of stuffed animals and giving them fun names and personalities :)

on friday evening there was a fundraiser for school at the sunset hill community center. i went with kay and rebekah to olaf's for dinner before the event...where we ran into a whole group of teachers from school who were doing the same thing. it was fun to hang out with them in the wild :) the event was semi-dressy. snacks, drinks, trivia, music, fun. it felt a little under-attended, but maybe the space was just too big. either way, it was a fun night.

saturday morning we hung out at home then i took the kids to chipotle for lunch (they had been asking to go for a while). thatcher went for a long walk. in the afternoon they played video games and played with friends outside. azalea and simone planned a sleepover for that night. we made spaghetti for dinner and the girls played on the nintendo switch and watched tv until all hours of the night ;)

sunday morning we made pancakes and bacon and the kids lounged around. in the afternoon i took ashford, azalea, and simone to open swim at ballard pool. we met kay and fritz there. she and i hung out on the bleachers while the kids swam. win-win. after we got home, we watched the super bowl. well mostly i did. it's my annual dose of football/halftime/commercials. thatcher made a really delicious salmon dish for dinner. we joked that it was the most un-superbowl meal ever.

1 week until we leave for florida. i found the kids like this the other day. they are definitely ready for some fun in the sun.
