no camp week, summer colds, big things for azalea

our week last week ended up not going exactly as planned. ashford was feeling better by monday, but we decided to just lay low at home for the day, with the exception of a trip to scooters for lunch. we played some board games, read, and the kids played video games.

tuesday morning i woke up with a sore throat and congestion. i could have guessed that would happen. ashford was supposed to have a friend over, but i didn't think it was wise so we canceled. we spent the day at home again. too much screen time for the kids, but you do what you gotta do to get through.

wednesday i still wasn't feeling great. i took a covid test and it was negative, as was ashford's over the weekend. i mostly lounged around the house. the kids were able to play with simone and thelonious who were back in town, so that helped break up the day.

thursday i was feeling about 85% better. ashford's friend arlo came over in the morning. in the afternoon ashford went to get ice cream/play arcade games at 'full tilt' with his friend alex.

i took azalea and simone out for ice cream at 'salt and straw' (we have a lot of ice cream places in our neighborhood) and to the library.

i got carrot cake batter with pralines....so good!

friday morning ashford went to his friend arlo's for a few hours. i took azalea to get her hair cut in northgate. she decided to go big and get about 4 inches off. her hair grows really fast! she looks super cute with her new 'middle school do'.

in the afternoon, azalea's very first phone arrived in the mail. we decided to get her a gabb phone (looks like a smart phone, but doesn't have internet or social media). she will be walking a half mile to and from her new school with sisi this fall, so we wanted a way to get a hold of her, as well as a way for her to get a hold of us if she wants to go to a friend's after school, etc. it's gonna be a whole new world!  friday night we stayed in, made dinner and watched a movie.

saturday morning azalea and i walked up to picolinos bakery and got coffee and treats, then met our friends julie and her son ben at webster park. ben is azalea's friend from elementary school, but he is going to a different middle school than her. it was a very fall-like morning, which was nice because the middle of the week was hot again and our townhouse is hard to keep comfortable. we mostly hung out at home the rest of the day. ran a couple errands. we made pizza for dinner and watched another movie with the kids.

sunday morning we made biscuits, eggs, and bacon for breakfast. then we took a day trip up past bellingham. it was nice to get out for the day.

the kids are at boys and girls club again this week. just a little over 2 weeks now until school starts!
