day camp week, fun outings, friends in town

the kids had their second and final week of the summer at boys and girls club last week. they both had friends there again, which was great. they went to some parks, azalea had a field trip to pike place market & mounger pool, and they both had a field trip to a roller rink and an end of summer party.

i reunited with my friend vanessa after being apart for almost the entire summer. monday i took her out for a belated birthday lunch at 'maggie bluffs.' it was such a beautiful afternoon on their patio overlooking the water, and there was key lime pie involved. wednesday she and i went to 'sodo' and checked out the goodwill outlet and the starbucks reserve in the ground floor of the headquarters building. i've lived here for 7 years and i had never been to a starbucks reserve before - it was fancy!

i also did my bookkeeping work, ran errands, cleaned, and cooked dinner every night, so it wasn't all fun and games ;) thursday evening azalea had her first soccer practice of the season. it was an un-official scrimmage and many of the girls were gone, but she had fun. it was in the upper 80s that day, which is unsual for seattle in late august, and we have more coming this week.

friday morning felt very fall-like. it barely reached 70 degrees and it was a little drizzly. friday evening i went to cloudburst brewery in my neighborhood with some moms from school. it was a fun night. we shut the place down at 10pm. ha! saturday morning we hung out at home, then in the afternoon ashford had an incoming 3rd grader meet up at the school playground. his friend fritz came over to play for a while after. we made dinner and watched a movie with the kids.

sunday morning our friends ian, joanna, and kyla from portland (originally friends from minneapolis) came to see us. it had been over a year due to some one in either family having covid the last two times we attempted to get together. they saw our townhouse for the first time, we caught up on everyone's lives, then went down to ballard avenue to have lunch at 'great state burger' and walk through the farmer's market.

they headed back to portand in the afternoon and we relaxed at home the rest of the day.

we are 9 days away from school starting now. no camp this week, but i've planned some fun things to (hopefully) keep everyone happy and sibling fighting to a minimum ;)
