ringing in 2022 at a snowy hoodsport cabin

welcome 2022! like every january it's going to take a little time to get used to it being a new year. but we are ready for a fresh start! we had the best 4-night getaway last week to hoodsport, wa on the hood canal. we booked this cabin back in september after remembering how much we loved our new years trip to the oregon coast last year. i'm so glad we did. it was relaxing, cozy, and fun all with a beautiful snowy backdrop. i couldn't have asked for anything better.

we left last tuesday in the early afternoon. it was a 2 hour drive and the scenery was so beautiful with all the snow covered trees.

we arrived and got settled in. the cabin was really cute and it looked so magical out every window.

i won't recap each day (because they were all pretty much the same), but we enjoyed going in the hot tub, sitting in front of the fireplace, many hours of video game playing for the kids and thatcher, easy meals, snacks, hot chocolate, and wine. movies at night, reading, board games, a 300 piece puzzle, watching the snow fall, and each other's company - with slightly less bickering than at home ;) we only saw a couple other people out the window the whole time we were there, so we were basically isolated. good timing with omicron :)

we got back on new years day. the rest of the weekend was spent getting settled back in at home, and taking down our christmas decorations. my least favorite chore, but it was time. the kids were supposed to go back to school today (monday), but our district pushed back the return day to tuesday and is offering voluntary covid testing at some middle schools before the kids/teachers go back, so we will check that out. onward!
