a couple sick days, thatcher in dc, 80's day

we made it, you guys. it's officially the last day of january. i know i shouldn't wish time away, but if we could just skip over january every year, that would be great :) and i'll be honest - i ended dry january on the 27th. close enough, right?

ashford ended up staying home from school monday and tuesday last week. he technically could have gone back on tuesday since he was fever free and testing negative for covid (we tested a second time monday night), but i decided to keep him home another day. early tuesday morning thatcher flew to washington dc for a multi-day conference planning meeting. as a bonus, he got to see anders and nith and meet our new nephew moss before they move to prague next month. we were all jealous that he got baby snuggles!

on wednesday ashford was back to school so i celebrated with a trip to the gym and some errands :)

friday was 80's day at the kids' school. azalea was psyched about it all week, ashford could not have cared less. haha. we put together a really cute outfit and hair do for her. she really is looking like a mini teenager these days. also, she came home from school and told me "mom, i have to show you this funny music video my teacher showed us, by a guy named rick astley". ha!

friday after school, kay and fritz came over for mom happy hour/kid play date. then i picked up scooters for dinner for the kids and me and we watched a movie. saturday we spent most of the day at home. ashford's friend arlo came over for a few hours in the late afternoon/early evening and had pizza with us for dinner. saturday night thatcher flew back from washington dc, so we drove to the airport to pick him up. we are happy to have him back home again. sunday was a day of errands, laundry, and gearing up for the week ahead. under 3 weeks til we go to florida now - yes, i'm counting down every day!
