another new nephew, soccer tournament, more covid shots
yes, both of thatcher's siblings had babies born into their families in a span of 2 weeks. thatcher's brother anders and his wife nith welcomed baby moss into the world on december 1st. they are currently living in washington dc, but will be heading to prague for work in february. the baby cousins' due dates were actually just 1 day apart, which was really fun. for the past 14 years, we have only had 1 nephew (and no nieces), so adding 2 more nephews to our family makes my heart so happy!
i mentioned azalea's regular soccer season ended at the beginning of november, but her coach signed the girls up for a post-season city tournament. the first game was last wednesday night, under the lights in shoreline. she has never had a night game before, so it was kinda fun. and it was a pleasantly warm night. they lost their game (1-3), but they still went on to have another game on saturday.
friday morning vanessa stopped over with some gifts because she and her family went home to nova scotia this weekend for the first time in 2.5 years. i'm so happy for her! i decided i wasn't finished decorating for christmas yet and picked up some more twinkle lights to add around the windows. best decision ever, i love the extra glow! after school my friend kay came over with her boys for a couple hours. the kids had snacks/treats and the moms had wine and charcuterie. it was really fun.
azalea's final soccer tournament game was saturday at noon in shoreline again. unfortunately they lost 3-6, but they tried their best and i don't think any of the parents are too sad about no more december games (it was 39 degrees and rainy). after the game, thatcher suggested i take her out on a little lunch date, so we stopped at a thai restaurant in shoreline. she looooves thai and it wasn't busy there at all because it was 1:30. it was really nice time spent with her.
sunday morning the kids got their second covid shot and i was able to get my booster. (thatcher got his last thursday). we went back to the same vaccination clinic we went to 3 weeks ago. i didn't have an appointment but they let me squeeze in my shot at the same time. the kids did great, they were super brave. and they got mcflurries from mcdonald's on the way home, so they were happy about that.
in the afternoon, azalea and i went to the library and the grocery store. we video chatted with my mom and brother, and also with anders, nith, and baby moss.
the kids had no side affects from their vaccine and i have a sore arm and i'm a little more tired than normal today. i'll take it! this week is pretty quiet around here. i want time to slow down because i know christmas will come and go before we know it!
