new nephew, fro yo, friendsgiving sleepover

happy thanksgiving week! my brother comes into town for the holiday today and we are so excited :) i have my menu ready for thursday, but still need to do my ingredients shopping. i'm dreading going to the store because i know it will be insane no matter when i go. ah well.

last tuesday morning i had coffee with vanessa at sabine. it has become my new favorite spot in ballard. they have a little side patio that is mostly enclosed with rain flaps and it's so cozy.

in the evening, we had azalea's school conference with her teacher over video chat. it was nice to get to talk to her teacher since parents have not been able to have a lot of contact this year aside from email. she got a great report and i can't wrap my head around the fact that we will be making decisions about middle school in a couple months. mind blowing! ashford's teacher conference is tomorrow.

tuesday night before bed, we found out that our new nephew was born in china (it was already wednesday morning there). thatcher's sister cedar lives and works in beijing with her husband erich and older son jack. we are all so excited for the new addition to our family. we love baby telemachus (pronounced tel-em-icus) so much already and can't wait to meet him in person some day!

on thursday after school there was a going away fro yo outing for eleanor (who is moving back to australia) with the girls on the soccer team. i volunteered to help drive. the closest frozen yogurt place is in queen anne. it was pouring rain and we had to park a few blocks away, so it was an adventure. 12 girls descended on the shop (thank goodness we were the only ones there). it was loud and crazy, but the girls had a blast.

friday was the last day of school before the week-long thanksgiving break. all the kids were bouncing off the walls at pick up time. we had a cozy night at home. picked up thai food and watched the new space jam movie.

saturday i had a friendsgiving sleepover with my friends erica, vanessa, meredith, & heather. i was so excited because i've never done a thanksgiving meal with friends before. i volunteered to bring mashed potatoes and gravy. i cooked my food in the afternoon (i even made the gravy!). thatcher took ashford to webster park for a meet up with his class. in the evening, i drove to the madrona neighborhood to erica's house. we had a delicious meal with a whole chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and squash. it made me excited for the real thing on thursday. the picture of the group turned out a bit grainy, but oh well.

sunday was spent cleaning, grocery shopping and relaxing. hope you have a great holiday with your loved ones.
