semi-annual hair cut, soccer, curling birthday party

last wednesday night was the fall general pta meeting (they are still on zoom). there have been two staff covid cases at the kids' school so far and no kid cases, so the masks seem to be doing their job. thatcher is going into work about 2 days/week on average. last week he went in on thursday and also dropped off our car near his office to have the windshield replaced from a crack caused by a small pebble hitting us on the interstate. fun fun.

friday i got my hair cut in the morning for the first time in 6 months. it always feels so good! and it's fun to have styled hair for a day or two, since i never do my own hair. ;)

when i got home, thatcher said he had a break in his work calls and asked if i wanted to grab lunch together - yes, please! we walked down to sen noodle bar. it was delicious. then i had coffee with a friend before school pick up. the kids and i ended up meeting kay and her boys at mod pizza for dinner. it was our first time dining in there since before the pandemic. they have a nice outdoor seating area and it was almost empty. we watched a movie with thatcher when we got home.

saturday was busy! it started off with a 9am soccer game for azalea at salmon bay field. it was nice to have it in the neighborhood this weekend. they lost for the first time this season, 7-2. the other team was really good! they tried their best. it was a beautiful sunny morning to watch. in the afternoon ashford had a play date at his friend arlo's house. they were in kindergarten together, but hadn't seen each other much recently until they ended up in the same class again this year. he hasn't done many drop off play dates, so i was really proud of him.

in the evening, i was invited to a birthday party for my friend louise - a curling birthday party! i knew was curling was, but i had never tried it. there were 15 people in our group and we went to an official curling club in north seattle for a lesson and play time. it was quite the experience! there is lots of gear involved, including these rubber shoe covers and a knee pad.

we had fun learning how to play from the instructors. it's a very involved game that was hard to follow at times, but we did pretty well. i'm still waiting on the group picture, i guess i'll have to add it here later.

all day sunday i was so tired and sore. that surprised me! it rained all day, so it was the perfect day to just lay around and read.

we made home made spaghetti and meatballs and pumpkin bars with maple frosting. i love this time of year.
