a little bit routine, a little bit mini vacation

 we had a good week around here last week. the weather cooled down and some days it didn't even reach 60 degrees. we also got some rain, which is probably for the best since they are predicting wildfire season will be bad this year :(. but now that we've had some summer-like weather, i just want it to come back. looks like it's still a ways off.

 on monday when i was walking home from the gym, i passed my favorite wisteria-filled yard. 

 

ashford's baseball practice was moved to tuesday night last week. it rained on and off during the practice, but we were rewarded with the most epic rainbow. 

wednesday we went to woodland park (outside the zoo) with vanessa and ewan. the kids played on the playground and the moms enjoyed the sunshine. i didn't take any pictures. 

it's always a good day when rainier cherries are back in season. 

 

thursday evening thatcher went out to meet some friends, so i decided to take the kids to a newish burger place on ballard avenue - great state burger. we ordered inside then sat outside on the patio and it was so nice! 

friday night we made dinner at home and watched a movie.

saturday morning ashford had a baseball game. it was cool and cloudy, but stayed dry. they won their game and ashford even caught a ball and got a kid out. he was really proud :) saturday evening we decided to drive to camano island (a little over an hour away) and have a picnic dinner, just for the heck of it. we picked up mod pizza in a nearby town and found a picnic table. we hung out on the beach after and it was such a beautiful night. it felt like a mini vacation. 

 

sunday morning azalea had a soccer game in south seattle. her team lost, but they played really well. in the afternoon, the kids had a long playdate at simone and thelonius' house. thatcher and i ran errands and prepped dinner. i usually clean my house on the weekends, but this weekend it fell by the wayside. oops. guess i know what's happening today.
