blogiversary, pizza picnic, the last of summer in april

my blog turned 11 last week! this is my 1,024th post. i know i'm the author of all those posts, but i still can't wrap my head around it. what a weird hobby :) thanks for reading!

it was back to school last week and it felt brand new all over again after the break. both kids adjusted well and so did i ;) the weather was absolutely beautiful the first half of the week. ashford had baseball practice monday night. he got his game jersey, practice shirt, and a hat which he was very proud of.

on tuesday after drop off, my friend kay and i went for lunch on the deck at rays. it was such a treat! i always feel like i'm on vacation when i'm there looking over the sound. we savored every minute! after school the kids and i went to our neighbors louise, simone, and thelonius' temporary rental in the neighborhood (they are renovating their house). the kids had fun playing and louise and i enjoyed sitting on the deck.

tuesday night thatcher had the idea to get mod pizza and take it to sunset hill park for a picnic dinner. it was so fun. it's a popular picnic spot because of it's spectacular view, but it was easy for groups to keep their distance. ashford impressed us by eating an entire 11 inch pizza by himself. a peek into my future, i'm sure. ha!

wednesday was remote learning day. the kids had some live lessons in the morning and some independent work to do. in the afternoon we went to vanessa and ewan's to hang out in their backyard for the last day of "fake summer" :) the kids played with water balloons, water shooters, and ate tons of snacks. vanessa and i sat in the sun and chatted. made me excited for real summer!

friday while the kids were in school, i went for a walk on ballard avenue. it was hoppin! there are so many pretty outdoor dining pergolas. it feels so good to see the neighborhood so bustling.

friday night we made carne asada tacos and watched harry potter 6. the rain returned over night. it was a good run of nice weather. this week looks dry but not as warm.

ashford's first baseball game was rained out on saturday. it's rescheduled for tuesday night. we didn't have any other plans, so we decided to take a drive to renton, wa to visit a coffee shop that my college roomate kaylee recommended called boon boona.

we picked up coffee and treats and took them to a nearby park on lake washington. it was cold and rainy, but we tried to make the best of it.

we spent the rest of the day relaxing at home and got take out from a new (to us) thai place. we also watched "ms. peregrine's home for peculiar children". i had read the first book and thatcher read the entire series.

sunday was pretty quiet too. we cleaned, got groceries, and azalea had a soccer game in the morning. ashford still makes his way to our bed more nights than not, but sunday morning he was so sweet sleeping on my shoulder.
