library books, kid art, me time

i picked up my first library books in a year last week. our libraries are still closed, but they did start doing curbside pick up while ago. i have purchased so many books in the last year (mostly from goodwill and abebooks) and i'm not normally a book buyer, so i'm excited to get back to using the library again.

if any one is wondering how much personal space i get these days, it's pretty much this much ;)

the kids both do a lot of art for school (it's an arts infused school). i really love these two pieces they did last week.

i also bought myself these flowers last week to up the springy feel in our house. it worked!

last thursday marked one year since the pandemic began (and since my kids last set foot in school). it was a hard day. my patience was at zero, and i was feeling hopeless that life will ever go back to normal for us. but that evening, biden announced that by may 1st every one should be eligible for the vaccine. hallelujah!

more good news came on friday. governor inslee announced he is mandating that all districts provide the option for some in person instruction by april 5th. do i wish it could have been done without a government mandate? of course. but the school district and the teachers union have been embroiled in tense negotiations for months with zero progress. it's insanely frustrating when almost every other major school district in the country has made this work with much higher covid rates than we have. i'm glad they will be forced to figure out a plan now.

also on friday afternoon thatcher offered to take the kids to a playground to meet up with his coworker and his daughter. i do 99.9% of the parenting from 8am-6pm on weekdays, so this was a rare treat! the sun was shining and it was in the upper 50s, so i went for a walk in ballard. i got a delicious smoothie from verve bowls and went to target and buffalo exchange. it felt so good and i felt like a new person compared to the day before.

as if that day could get any better, i had plans in the evening to hang out around the fire pit at my friend alison's with our friend beth. it was a really fun (warmish) night.

saturday was another warm, sunny day - 62 degrees! we hung out at home in the morning and then the kids played with simone and thelonius outside for hours in the afternoon. thatcher went to see a friend, so i got to hang out by myself and read on my deck. heaven!

thatcher picked up chipotle for all of us on the way home and then we all watched "a wrinkle in time."

sunday it got cool and rainy again, so it was a perfect day to stay in and be lazy. i had coffee under the awning at venture coffee with vanessa in the morning. other than that i read my book for a lot of the day (with a few cleaning breaks). the kids played and fought and had lots of screen time.

my mom and brother booked a flight to come in may, so we are super excited about that!
