hello february! i try not to wish away time, but it feels good to be done with the first month of the year. the longest month, in my opinion. ;) not to mention this pandemic is still not over yet and we are all getting tired of it and would like to hit fast forward. covid vaccinations have been sloooow to roll out across the us, but hopefully things will start to speed up soon. thankfully cases seem to be going down across the country, but we aren't out of the woods yet with new variants popping up.
in true seattle fashion, i saw my first flowers coming up at the end of january. after living in a climate for 30+ years where you don't see flowers coming up until may, it still blows my mind. the weather in seattle will pretty much stay the same for the next few months (40-50 degrees), but visuals of spring are always nice.
on wednesday afternoon (wednesdays are short school days), i took the kids to golden gardens to go on the playground. we also walked out on the beach. one thing led to another and before i knew it, the kids were without their shoes and socks going into the water. ;) brrr
i mentioned that there was no school on thursday (day between semesters). it was supposed to be dry all day, but we woke up to rain. most of our morning looked like this:

we moved our playground meet up with vanessa and ewan to the afternoon and thankfully it dried out. we went to ella bailey park in magnolia. i didn't take any pictures, but the view of the city was beautiful as always and the kids had fun.
on friday ashford got an "eagle card" from his teacher. it's their way of recognizing the kids through out the year. ashford was thrilled that it was his turn (every kid gets at least one).
also on friday i was talking to my mom on the phone while using my arm weights and marching in place and thatcher thought it was funny, so he took a picture. yes i'm in my regular clothes and not even breaking a sweat, but it's better than nothing. i miss the gym!
friday after school, the kids and i went to my friend kay's backyard. she set up her patio for an outdoor nintendo switch playdate for the kids and it was so fun! they played for a little over an hour, then lost interest and played on the driveway for a while.
it was drizzling on saturday morning, but we decided to take a walk/scooter down to mighty o donuts to get the kids a treat. sometimes bribes have to be involved to get them to agree to a walk ;)
another scene from saturday...we had a lazy afternoon. azalea and i painted our nails.
we got takeout for dinner (vietnamese from a place in queen anne) and then thatcher and the kids watched star wars and i went up to my room for some "me time". i watched the movie version of rent and did a face mask. it was so nice!
sunday morning i went to vanessa's with our friend erica for a garage hang out. vanessa recently got a new espresso machine, so she made us fancy coffee drinks and snacks and we caught up.
thatcher and the kids played board games at home. we zoomed with my mom and brother. thatcher and azalea went for a walk later in the day and we made turkey burgers for dinner. truth be told, it wasn't the best weekend around here. every one is struggling with life/the pandemic in their own way and emotions were high and patience was short. but today is a new day!
