a backyard wedding, biking in carnation, back to quarantine

last friday afternoon (over a week ago now) our downstairs neighbors had a small wedding ceremony in their backyard (right below our deck). they told us in advance and invited us to watch from our deck, if we wanted :) they are having a reception next summer, but had a very small ceremony with only 3 people in attendance. it was short and sweet and fun to watch.

we had a nice mix of adventure and relaxation last weekend, my favorite combo. on saturday afternoon we drove to the town of carnation (about 45 minutes away) to do a bike ride along the tolt river. we had never been there before and it was really pretty! i think the kids liked our stop along the river more than the actual biking. there were quite a few people there swimming and hanging out, but it was easy to keep our distance.

sunday we cleaned, made massaman curry again, and went to the grocery store.

multiple times this week azalea requested a salad for lunch. i don't say this to brag (i was just as surprised as you are). but i'll take it! she had mixed greens, turkey, feta cheese, avocado, and some olive oil/lemon for dressing. such a little lady :)

tuesday night we had an outdoor playdate/dinner at my friend kay's. her boys are around my kids' ages and they get along so well. she had the sprinkler and water balloons for them and we also had pizza and played bean bags. it was such a fun night and actually warm!

wednesday night i went to vanessa's for wine on her deck with our friends erica and heather (who we hadn't see in so long!). it felt so nice for us all to be together and to catch up in a safe manner.

on thursday we started quarantining for our trip to minnesota. we are leaving next friday the 31st (driving there) and while of course we will come in contact with people along the way, we decided it would be best to not see any of our friends for a week before we go, just to be extra careful. so we've been finding things to do around the house. the kids made this epic fort one day:

i've been spending lots of time reading on the deck:

on friday i took the kids on a "nature walk" (to the school and fields - ha) to look for things to paint. they loved it! here are some of our masterpieces:

we usually watch 1-2 movies every weekend. last night was "the princess diaries". this is how ashford felt about it:

we'll be spending the next week prepping for our trip and keeping ourselves busy while staying socially distant.

Good call on the one week quarantine, i assume it'll give you a little peace of mind, and i hope the drive is safe and uneventful for you!
