living room changes, swimming party, east side biking

it feels so good to say farewell to january! especially because it rained (or snowed) 28 out of 31 days last month!! so far february is bringing us more sunshine!

over the past few months, i've been replacing some of the decor in our living room. we've had the same color scheme for 6 years now and while i didn't hate it, lately i've been really drawn to neutral colors in my wardrobe, as well as home decor. so i thought replacing some of the inexpensive items in order to give it a new look would be fun. it started with the rug in the fall and more recently i got new pillow covers, and a new book basket. i love the way it's all coming together!

one morning after walking back from school drop off, the sun was hitting the mountains just right in the distance and it took my breath away. we've lived here for 4.5 years and it still blows my mind that i can walk out my door and see mountains.

i got this new headband last week. i haven't owned a headband since the 90s ;) i love the way it looks, but it gave me a headache after an hour. i'll still probably wear it, though! ha.

we had a pretty low-key weekend. i started feeling like i was coming down with a cold on thursday, so i laid low all of friday. i watched "rocketman" in the afternoon. we hung out at home friday night.

saturday morning azalea and i went to the library and a sale for a bunch of ballard businesses that was happening at the leif erickson center. we spent the afternoon at home, and in the evening, azalea and i headed to the queen anne pool for her friend audrey's 9th birthday party. it was a big party (they rented out the pool after hours). azalea had a blast! her swimming skills aren't quite good enough to pass the swimming test to go in the deep end, but they let her go with a life jacket. she's working hard to get there. we'll do more lessons this summer. this is the only picture i took and it's blurry. ah well.

sunday we had no plans, but the sun was shining!! i walked down to the farmers market and the grocery store by myself.

in the afternoon, thatcher took the kids trail biking on the east side. i would have gone along, but i wasn't feeling up to it since i'm still at the tail end of this cold. it was a bit chilly (around 40) but they had fun.

i cleaned and watched the super bowl. they got home at half time and we ate dinner and watched the rest of the game. then it was overdue showers and off to bed!
