november is here!

i mentioned in my last post that i was going to a halloween party on friday night. i wasn't planning on blogging about it because i was going to just wear my witch costume again, but in the late afternoon on friday i started feeling really lazy about putting on that whole get up again and i joked that i should just wear my christmas onesie and a sign that says "halloween is over" (because that's totally how i felt. ha!). well, that turned into me deciding to go for it! azalea was mortified (which i found really funny). here i was friday night ready for my night out:

the party was so fun! a bunch of us met up at the sloop tavern that is a couple blocks from the elks lodge and then headed over to the party at 8:30. there was a band playing and every one was dressed up. i got a lot of compliments on my outfit ;) in addition to seeing a bunch of parents from azalea's school who are friends of mine, my old neighbor joe was there too, so it was fun get to catch up with him.

saturday morning was a bit rough because i didn't get home until 11:30 pm the night before (i can't stay up late anymore). azalea had her last soccer game of the season at 9 am that morning. of course it was the only game all season that was scheduled that early. ashford does not enjoy going to her games and i was super tired, so ashford and i ended up staying home. they tied their final game 0-0. we have an end of the season team party this week at giddy up burgers, which will be fun.

the kids and i spent the rest of the day at home. thatcher went to a grown-up lego club in bellevue (yes, for real) and he had a good time meeting new people. we made dinner and watched "jumanji" for movie night.

sunday morning i went to the gym and thatcher and the kids hung out at home and then after lunch, we all headed to bothell (about 30 mins outside the city) to do our first trail bike ride! we've been looking forward to this ever since we got both kids up on 2 wheels. we went on the samammish river trail and it was fairly busy, but they both did great staying on the right side of the path. we biked just over 5 miles and the kids loved it.

this outing caught me off guard by making me feel really sentimental/emotional. for one, the fact that we can do a bike ride like this means my kids are really growing up! and second, my dad always took us biking when i was a kid and though it wasn't my favorite activity, i have fond memories of being with him and it made my sad to realize that he will never get to do this with his grandkids :(

sunday night we were invited to dinner at my friend casey's house with her husband and 8 and 3 years old daughters. they made tacos and the kids ran around together and we got to catch up with them. it was a fun night. DST hit us all hard by sunday night and every one was over tired. hopefully they will be getting rid of it soon!

Azalea looks so grown up in her soccer photo! I love your costume, especially since the day of the. party was after halloween!
