golden gardens, bitter lake, date night

the first week of may has treated us well. lots of sunshine and time with friends. backing up to last week...

on monday night we caught this beautiful sunset on the way home from the mall. there is an overlook park up the hill from us that we almost never go to, but we were nearby and knew it would be worth the detour :)

on wednesday we went to golden gardens after early release (from school). vanessa and ewan came as well as beth, audrey, & eliza. it was a beautiful afternoon. i could easily live there all spring and summer. and we probably will.

these goofballs told me they were on the love boat. haha.

we ended our outing to the beach with popcicles at "miri's snack shack"

friday night we made dinner and stayed in and relaxed. we are always pooped at the end of the week :) i may have even fallen fallen asleep on the couch just after 9pm.

saturday morning we mostly hung out at home. we played uno, marbles on the floor, and thatcher set up a science experiment for the kids.

after lunch, we went to check out a new spot in the city we have not been to before - bitter lake. there is a community center with a playground, ball fields, and....a lake! i've driven by it many times before, but the lake isn't visible from the road, so it was a nice surprise. it was a sunny afternoon around 60 degrees.

then we made a stop at bed, bath, and beyond to get a new pillow for thatcher (the kids were thrilled - no). in the early evening we dropped them off at vanessa and matt's for our date night! thatcher and i decided to go to "sen noodle bar" in our neighborhood because we had never been. it was delicious! then we dropped our leftovers off at home and jumped in the car to get ice cream up the hill at "frankie and jo's". it's all vegan with super interesting flavors. i will admit i don't usually love vegan ice cream because it's just not usually as good, but this place is incredible! we shared a bowl with 3 different flavors. yum!

we hung out with matt and vanessa for a bit when we picked up the kids. they took them to a new ice cream place by their house for dessert - so nice. it was a really fun night.

sunday morning azalea and i attempted to go to the library, but forgot it doesn't open until 1pm on sundays. oops. we ended up going to venture coffee instead, so not all was lost :) in the afternoon we took the kids up to school with their bikes, got groceries, went to the library and relaxed at home.

it's supposed to get back into the 70s again this week and i cannot wait!
