good bye april

2019 is flying by at lightning speed! i feel like any month when we travel always flies by. how is it already may this week? i'm not complaining about summer being on the horizon, but i can't believe there's only less than 2 months left of school!

we had a pretty relaxing weekend here. friday night's excitement included overdue showers for the kids and early bed time for all of us. saturday morning thatcher was up before dawn to do his first hike of 2019. he went with two co-workers he has hiked with before. the trail was over 2 hours away in central washington. he said it was a beautiful but super windy day there.

the kids and i were carless for the day, but we entertained ourselves in ballard. i took them to mcdonald's for lunch and playland. our friends beth, eric, audrey & eliza met us there. the kids always want their friends to magically be wherever we go these days, but i'm trying mmy best not to set that precedent because it's not always how life goes ;)

thatcher got home in the mid afternoon. i had dinner plans that night in fremont with my friends. we went to "SWeL"for the first time. it was a really cute place and the food was great. meredith's friend sade joined us, so it was fun getting to know her.

on sunday morning azalea had a hair cut appointment at jc penney. unfortunately the jc penney closest to us is closing, so we now have to make the trek to lynwood. azalea and i decided that cutting her hair short again was the way to go. her hair is hard to manage when it's long (probably because this straight-haired mama has no idea how to tame waves). but she likes it short, too, so we did it. she looks great!

we spent the rest of the day hanging at home with a quick trip up to the school for azalea with her bike. we grilled burgers for dinner and relaxed the rest of the night.
