easter weekend 2019

i just realized that i hadn't gotten our easter post up yet. oops!

also, i can't let april 21st go by without mentioning the fact that my blog is now nine years old! that's quite the long term relationship, don't you think? :) this is my 903rd post! getting close to 1,000. wow. thanks for reading! i would still do this for myself even if no one read it, but it's more fun to have readers.

we had sort of a weird easter this year. in all honesty, it snuck up on me after we got back from our trip. we didn't have anywhere to be or anyone to host this year. in past years we have done one or the other, but some years are like this. definitely one of the biggest downsides of living far away from family.

friday night we had a movie night with the kids and introduced them to "ET." there was some protest from them about the movie choice, but they ended up loving it!

saturday morning we went to the egg hunt at the ballard community center for the first time. it's kind of hard to believe we went this many years without going, but this year the kids saw the signs and all their friends were asking if they were going, so we decided we would. it was a huge event, but really well run. they spread hundreds (a thousand?) plastic eggs all over the ball fields and rope it off then group the kids by age. the whole "hunt" lasted less than 5 minutes, but the kids had a ball.

in the afternoon we ran some errands and hung out at home. in the evening, thatcher headed to a brewery with some friends and vanessa and matt dropped off ewan so they could have a date night (ours is next weekend). i held down the fort with the 3 kids and they mostly went easy on me ;) matt and vanessa hung out for a bit when they returned.

sunday was easter! the easter bunny came and we had two very excited kiddos. here are their baskets this year:

we made a big breakfast and then i snuck away to the gym for an hour. in the afternoon, we took the kids up to school with their bikes and played a little basketball. then we came home and cooked a ham, cheesy potatoes, green beans, and blueberry muffins. yum! it mostly felt like a normal day, but the cheesy potatoes made it special. haha!
