march.is.busy.

it was another busy week around here (of both the good and not so good variety). thankfully the weekend brought time for relaxation. the sun was shining most of the week and the highs were in the upper 40's, so we tried to spend a lot of time outside. tuesday morning i had an appointment then ashford and i did some chalk drawings in the afternoon:

on wednesday i was supposed to have a dentist appointment, but i woke up with a sore throat and stuffed up nose, so i decided it would be best to cancel it and take the morning to rest.

on thursday morning i was feeling better, so that was nice. we woke up to a dusting of snow and for a minute i was afraid school would be cancelled - but it wasn't. whew! it melted by the afternoon. that's the way seattle snow usually goes - not that crazyness we had last month .

i also stopped into my favorite neighborhood coffee shop, java bean. they were closed for 10 days for a renovation and a re-brand, including a new name. they added a bunch more windows along the north facing wall and it's so much brighter in there now. it looks beautiful! their new name is venture coffee. the owners are the same. so, if you hear me talk about "venture coffee" - now you know it's the former "java bean" :)

thursday afternoon i took ashford to seattle gymnastics academy for open gym again. he had so much fun last time, i knew we would go again soon. vanessa and ewan joined us as well as two kids from his preschool class and their moms. it was really fun!

friday i was supposed to go to the coworking space to sit in on another interview, but i had too much going on with my job that i had to cancel. thankfully our board president was already planning to run the interview. that night we made breakfast for dinner and just hung out at home.

saturday morning we were out the door before 9 am to meet thatcher's cousin sage in south lake union. he was in town from san diego for an interview and had a couple hours before needing to head to the airport. we went to "top pot" for donuts and coffee and then walked around lake union park. it was chilly (mid 30's), but felt nice in the sun.

in the afternoon we took the kids up to school with their bikes (like we do every weekend, it seems). thatcher also taught them how to play "pig".

for dinner we went out to "uneeda burger." i love going there but usually get a huge stomach ache from having a burger, fries, and a shake, so i decided to get a veggie burger instead of a regular burger and it did the trick! the kids played some video games when we got home, then off to bed.

sunday was daylight saving time. i purposely did not change the clocks at our house ahead of time, so the kids would not get up earlier than normal in the morning based on the "new" time. it worked well. they got up at their normal time and then we moved the clocks after we all got up. i'm excited for more daylight in the evenings! we mostly hung out at home all day. i got groceries and on the walk back i noticed the cherry blossoms are finally starting to bloom. usually they are a lot farther along by the second week in march.

thatcher and azalea spent 2 hours reading the last 100 pages of harry potter 4 so we could watch the movie that night :) they were very dedicated. after that, thatcher went to a coffee shop to do some work and i took the kids to "east queen anne playground". it was out first time going there. the kids always want to check out new parks and it's nice to know there are still options out there for us after almost 4 years of park-going. we made pizzas for dinner and watched harry potter 4.

this week is looking a little quieter (i hope). we've been planning a small birthday party for azalea for the end of the month and thatcher's parents and our nephew jack are coming to visit for a week, and then on april 6th we are going on an 11 day road trip down to san diego over the kids' spring break. so much to look forward to!
