second grade musical and the end of january

we've made it through the longest month of the year (in my opinion)!

last week azalea had her second grade musical performance. the older the kids get, the earlier in the year the performace is. this year's was called "here we go round" because they were showing off singing in rounds and dancing around. it was adorable. all of the kids get super into it and they are so proud to perform up on the stage. we had seats towards the front this year, which was nice.

after the performance there was an open invitation for families to go to "full tilt" in our neighborhood for ice cream. the kids had a blast running around playing arcade games and eating ice cream. thanks to the employees for putting up with us ;)

last friday after school azalea had her buddy bridget over to play:

we hung out at home that night. on saturday morning i went to the gym. when i was heading there, i noticed the first flowers of the year have popped up in our yard. on january 26th. it still amazes me even after living here for almost four years. especially when half the country is experiencing sub zero temps right now.

in the afternoon we took the kids up to school with their bikes. they really wanted thatcher to ride his too ;)

then we went to our friends chrissy & zach's for a family-friendly joint birthday party for the two of them. the kids ran around and screamed while the adults chatted. i didn't take any pictures. oops! that night we watched harry potter #3 because thatcher and azalea finished the book. they are trying to get their hands on #4 now.

sunday we didn't have any plans. i ran some errands in ballard in the morning and did some cleaning out of closets at home. in the afternoon we went up to the school with bikes again. it's the kids' number one request these days. we hung out at home the rest of the night and got ready for the week ahead.

this week has been pretty normal with the exception of wednesday when there was no school. it's the day between semesters so the whole district is off. i can't believe the school year is half over already! the kids and i went to "the inc" in the morning and vanessa and ewan came over in the afternoon.

february brings our long-awaited trip to florida and we are so excited for for it!
