ringing in may!

happy may! i feel like i have a lot to share. i failed to get this post up on monday because i was busy with book keeping work, doing the coworking space's monthly newsletter, and cleaning for my mom's arrival (tomorrow!!). whew! it's been a while since i've done a numbered post, so i think i will! 

1. i realized today that my blog turned 8 years old (!) at the end of april. i have officially written 842 posts on here (wow...). that's a lot of memories! i've always had the mindset that if i didn't enjoy blogging anymore or it became a burden that i would quit, but here i am still loving it. and i love going back and reading my posts - each month i read the previous 7 years of that same month's posts. it's so fun to see what we were up to 1, 2, 3+ years ago.

2. last week the weather in seattle was spectacular! sunny with highs in the 70's and one day it even reached 80. we had a lot of playground trips and my favorite, a trip to golden gardens. i have to pinch myself every time i'm there with my toes in the sand. it's so beautiful and only 2 miles from our house. the kids play together so well there and it's so relaxing. i wish i could bottle up that feeling.

3. we got a reality check this weekend when the weather was back to 50's and rain. womp womp. so worth it, though. azalea ended up staying home sick on friday. thursday night she came down with a fever and was really rundown. no idea where that came from, but she was better by saturday, so that was good. 

4. this weekend was pretty low key. saturday we spent most of the day at home because azalea was still recovering.



 in the late afternoon, we headed to the jcpenney salon at northgate mall so ashford could get his hair cut. our beloved salon in magnolia closed this month, so we decided to try out jcpenney (they have reasonably priced kid cuts and ashford's buddy ewan sees a lady there). the same lady cut ashford's hair and it was great. we'll definitely be back! 



sunday morning we went to to the ballard farmer's market. after lunch i took the kids to a playground because it was dry out and then azalea had a soccer game. thatcher and ashford stayed home. 7 out of the 8 girls were able to make it, so that was fun. once again the other team was much more skilled than them, but they still had fun :) 

5. my mom is coming into town tomorrow. we are so excited to see her! also exciting is that she offered to watch the kids for a night so we could have a 24 hour getaway. it has been five year since thatcher and i had an overnight together without kids. if you do the math, i was pregnant with ashford, so not even in his life time :) needless to say this is overdue. we are going to leavenworth, which is about 2.5 hours away in the mountains. i can't wait! 

6. ok, last one! we booked tickets to visit minneapolis at the end of june. the kids and i will be there for 2 weeks and thatcher for about 10 days. we'll be there for my birthday/the 4th and we're going to spend it at my aunt and uncle's cabin up north. should be fun!
