away we go!

when i first started drafting this post a few days ago, i was excited to report that this was the first week since halloween that everyone was healthy in our house. it felt so good!! since then azalea and thatcher have both gotten sick :( azalea woke up the morning of our trip to minneapolis with a fever and she's been fighting a virus ever since. thatcher came down with influenza a. he is all alone in seattle and had to take an uber to urgent care because he was in such rough shape. yikes! but onto happier things, we had a fun last week of school, so i wanted to recap it here before i get too behind. and then i'll recap our minneapolis trip after we return.

last monday azalea had her last gymnastics class of the fall. we made new friends from it, so i'm excited to have some playdates with them in the future. monday night thatcher saw some friends so i had a cozy night on the couch with hot chocolate and watched home alone.

i had lots of stuff for the inc. last week: a board meeting tuesday night and then a member happy hour on thursday night. one was more fun than the other ;) wednesday we had ashford's preschool conference. they didn't do conferences when azalea went there, so it was really nice to get a formal check-in. he got an awesome report, which i was thankful for. ironically we got home right after and he threw a huge tantrum for 30 minutes about nothing. you win some, you lose some. ha! ashford had his last swimming class of the fall on thursday. i'm so proud of how well he has done with swimming. his teacher was amazing too and we look forward to doing more lessons in 2018.

friday was a super busy day. i dropped off both kids at school at 9 and then went to get my nails done (shimmery red, of course!)

after a trip to the grocery store, i had my volunteer stint in azalea's class. they had pajama day at her school for the last day before break. all the kids looked so cute. they also got to bring a stuffed animal if they wanted and all of the kids were so excited to introduce me to their furry friends :) i can't believe we're almost halfway through the year already! right after that, i popped next door for ashford's ugly sweater holiday party at prechool. the kids made their own ugly sweaters/sweatshirts and it was pretty much the cutest thing ever! i got there a little late, but just in time for pictures:

i'm so thankful my schedule allows me to be at these types of events for the kids. azalea's school got out one hour early, so we decided to go to royal drummer coffee shop with our friends beth, audrey & eliza. we hadn't been there in forever! i got my favorite tumeric ginger latte and the kids enjoyed some treats (soooo many treats on friday! tis the season!).

saturday was mostly a packing/getting ready day. thatcher and azalea did go to the game store to play games for a bit in the morning while ashford and i ran an errand in the neighborhood. we thought about going to see the lit up christmas ships at the locks, but azalea azalea fell asleep on the couch, so we skipped it. this was the first year we were in town for it. oh well. after dinner i headed out for a night of holiday fun with my mom friends. the plan was to go to a christmas pop up bar in belltown. we all got dressed up and i even bought a bunch of santa hats from the dollar store :) vanessa and i got there first and there was a line at the door. we should have known it would be super popular the week before christmas. we had to wait a few minutes to get in, but it was just the two of us because the rest of our group hadn't arrived yet. the place was so fun! it was decked out in christmas decor from floor to ceiling, had music playing, and a special holiday drink menu. we both got the mulled wine and it was delicious!

our friends arrived but weren't able to get through the line, so we finished up our drinks and met them outside. we decided to go to a japanese restaurant across the street because some people hadn't eaten dinner. we ordered sushi and gyoza and short ribs and dessert and wine. so much good stuff!

it was such a fun night. i'm so excited our girl's weekend to vashon island is just over a month away!

sunday morning the kids and i were off to the airport. azalea had a fever and was feeling rundown, but she rallied thanks to her excitement.
