basketball starts, celebratory happy hour, ashford's belated birthday party
another week of january down! and we're coming off a 3 day weekend...
last tuesday ashford had piano. wednesday evening was his first basketball practice. i dropped off him and fritz, but didn't even need to go in because one of his coaches had also just parked. he said it was fun (and hard from all the running). his first game is later this month.
thursday evening i went to 'rays' for happy hour to celebrate kay's birthday (which was the week prior) with a group of friends. it was a fun outing. :)
when i got home, azalea headed to her school with sisi to see the middle school play.
friday morning i met vanessa at macrina bakery in queen anne. i've had their baked goods at coffee shops before, but i had never been to one of their shops. it was delish!
we made stir fry for dinner and then ashford headed to boys and girls club for open gym with his friend raleigh. thatcher and i watched 'carry on' on netflix. it was intense.
saturday morning we slept in. it was a cold morning in seattle - right around freezing. i know that's nothing compared to other parts of the country, but that's cold here.
in the late morning, azalea headed out to join sisi's family for her 'school of rock' performance in belltown. in the afternoon, ashford had another baseball clinic and then went to his friend elijah's for a sleepover with 3 other friends. elijah's parents took the boys to the lynnwood pool. thatcher, azalea, and i went to 'uneeda burger' for dinner and watched a movie when we got back.
sunday morning we picked up ashford from his sleepover. we had pancakes and bacon for breakfast and hung out at home for most of the day. ashford was tired from his sleepover and ending up falling asleep on the couch for two hours. in the afternoon, i took the kids to fred meyer to get a birthday cake for ashford's friend party the next day, and to the library. there was more lounging around in the evening. i'm already on my 5th book of the year!
monday was mlk day (and inauguration day - but i don't wanna focus on that depressing event). thatcher and the kids were off work/school, so we decided to have ashford's belated kids party that day. it's been so nice waiting to do his party the last couple of years, rather than doing it the week of christmas. we took 7 boys + ashford (and azalea) to 'skyzone' trampoline park. we hadn't been in a couple years and the kids love it. we did a party table and they provided pizza and pitchers of soda. we brought a cake and ashford also opened his gifts. it was a lot of fun.
