foot chronicles, a night out, restlessness

it was a very dark and rainy week last week for the most part. azalea had soccer practice tuesday evening...in the rain.

wednesday azalea went to boys and girls club after school.

thursday i went to the dermatologist to have a mole removed from the top of my foot. it was actually the second time removing the same mole (while it wasn't cancerous, it grew back), but this time was a little more involved than the first time and i had to get stitches. not fun, but i'm glad it's done! the procedure hurt a fair amount, but surprisingly i didn't have any pain the rest of the day. i also treated myself to a starbucks holiday drink after, which makes everything better.

azalea was supposed to have soccer practice that night, but her coach cancelled it.

friday i woke up with a very sore foot :( the incision stung, and it was a little hard to walk. i chronicled my day for #onedayhh. i was able to see vanessa in the morning for coffee and also go out with her that night to her friend kristina's business kickoff party and out for dinner. i had to wear open-top flats because real shoes hurt too much.

saturday my foot was still tender. but i was able to take off the bandage and shower for the first time in two days. i'll spare you the picture of my stitches. ha! both kids had friends over in the afternoon. ashford and arlo also went to arlo's for part of the afternoon. i took azalea and her friend penny to 'cafe fiore' in our neighborhood for pumpkin coffee drinks :)

i was still hobbling around on my foot and couldn't wear real shoes yet. we made dinner and watched a movie with the kids that night.

sunday morning azalea had her last soccer game of the regular fall season. thatcher took her because there was no way i was going to sit out there in sandals :) they lost their game 5-2. she has a couple weeks break now and then there's the city tournament at the beginning of december. we pretty much lounged around for the rest of the day. i did take azalea to the library and the grocery store in the afternoon. i wore real shoes, but it still kinda hurt. :/

while we've had some activities/outings lately, we've been feeling a bit restless and struggly from a lot of long days/nights stuck in the house. the weather isn't great, it feels dark so much of the time, and the kids bicker a lot. as a result, we all get crabby with each other. i know this is normal and not all that bad in the grand scheme of things, but when life feels hard is when i get homesick the most. i miss having our families nearby for support. we are looking forward to thatcher's parents coming into town next week to help brighten things up. our december calendar is filling up too, so there's lots to look forward to.
