valentine's day, pedicures, florida here we come!

i wanted to get this post up today because we are leaving for florida early tomorrow morning. weee! 

 last tuesday evening ashford went to karate with arlo and rebekah. the boys both got their memory stripes for gold belt. 

wednesday was valentine's day. two days before that i realized that we hadn't gotten anything for ashford's class valentine exchange, so we came up with these very quick and easy valentines. yes, they are tiny yellow and orange squares of paper with a chocolate taped on the front and "to" and "from" on the backside. we really phoned it in this year :) azalea made some valentines for her friends and classmates, but i didn't get a picture of hers. 

they both came home with valentines and sweet treats. ashford's class also had a potluck. we had a mini celebration at home in the evening. thatcher made his annual chocolate souffle and the kids opened some cards from their grandparents, and each got a small box of chocolates from us. 

friday morning i had a cleaning at the dentist. not my favorite activity, but always nice to get that out of the way for another 6 months. we made dinner and watched the final harry potter movie. once every 1-2 years we re-watch them all. 

saturday morning i went to the gym and everyone else hung out at home. in the afternoon azalea and i had pedicure appointments. it's our yearly pre-florida treat! it felt so nice and i love doing it with her. 

in the evening, we had some new friends over for dinner. well, thatcher was introduced to yiling when we moved here by a mutual friend from minnesota. but the rest of our family had not met yiling or her husband kris or their little boy, so we decided to have them over. we made pork carnitas tacos and the kids had a ball playing with 'baby q' :) we also realized we have many more minnesota connections with them. love that! 

sunday morning we had waffles and bacon and then azalea and i took a trip to the library. in the afternoon, azalea had a new friend over for the first time named asha. i took them to venture coffee and they played mario kart. 

we have some last minute packing to do tonight and my alarm is set for 5:00 am. florida here we come!
