back to the routine: school, work, and a sleepover

we are back in the swing of things with school, work, and activities. january is my least favorite month of the year and i'm already looking forward to our florida trip in february and the arrival of spring weather, but i know that's a ways off. :) there's actually snow in the forecast here this week!

ashford went back to karate on tuesday and thursday night last week. he has another belt test coming up in a couple weeks.

a new bagel shop just opened a block from our house, so vanessa and i went to check it out on friday. it's safe to say they were the best bagels i've ever had in my life. yum. this is exciting...and dangerous.

friday after school ashford and i went to kay's house for a mom/kid hangout. azalea met us there after she got out of school. kay's friend liz came as well and it was great to catch up with them. then we came home and hung out with thatcher the rest of the night, made spaghetti and watched a movie.

saturday morning i took the kids to target to use their gift cards they got for christmas. azalea used some of hers on a book, ashford is saving all of his for another time. we hung out at home for the afternoon, then it was time to take ashford to arlo's house for a sleepover with two other friends. arlo's mom is braver than me. haha. it was ashford's first time sleeping there. rebekah sent this picture:

looks like a real rager :)

azalea had her friend penny over for the evening. thatcher and i took them to 'crackle mi' for vietnamese for dinner. it was really cozy in there.

we stopped at the grocery store on the way home for ice cream even though it was freezing out and we were all full, but ice cream is always a good idea.

sunday morning thatcher got up early and headed to the property to do some projects. i picked up ashford in the late morning. he had a blast, but he got very little sleep. i took the kids to venture coffee and the library. by the time we got back, ashford was really dragging and soon fell asleep on the couch for two hours. haha. i'm glad we didn't have anything else we needed to do yesterday.

ready or not, here comes another week!
