last week felt pretty quiet compared to the month we've had so far. i took ashford and arlo to karate monday evening. we didn't have any extra curriculars on tuesday or wednesday. it got warm mid-week - 70 and sunny! it felt so nice.
on wednesday i took a trip to our neighborhood target that is unfortunately closing permanently on 10/21. everything was 70%. it isn't a full-sized store and stuff was already pretty picked over, but i managed to score $180 worth of merchandise for $58. mostly nonperishable food and toiletry items. exciting right?! later that day, thatcher told me he saw a foostable on our neighborhood 'buy nothing' group. it was just 2 blocks away, so he went to pick it up. it's a fun new addition to our family room. it also converts to pool, ping pong, and air hockey. i'm envisioning this room becoming more of a teen hang out space in the next couple years.
thursday night was soccer for azalea and karate for ashford, but i didn't have to drive to either.

on friday i got to be a chaperone for ashford's class field trip. we took a school bus to the university of washington to see a dance performance. it was a traveling dance company from brazil. really cool! we had lunch outside and then headed back to the school. everything was great except the bus rides which were so insanely loud.
immediately after school, ashford had his first 'sports club' class for an hour, held in the gym with the gym teacher. it goes for 8 weeks. the kids were home for a couple hours and then i took them both back to ashford's school for 'parents' night out.' it's a paid, drop off event and they both got to go because ashford's teacher (who azalea also had) asked if she would like to come be a helper for the younger kids. so thatcher and i had 3 hours to ourselves! we made dinner at home and watched a grown-up movie, which is a rare treat :)
saturday morning thatcher got up early to head to the property. we've signed the contact for a driveway, so that should be happening very soon. the kids and i had no plans until late in the day. we hung around the house. lots of time on screens, and some reading. azalea's friend clementine got dropped off in the late afternoon for a sleepover. the girls hung out and then when thatcher got home, i took azalea and clementine out for pho dinner. thatcher took ashford to mod pizza.
the girls watched netflix when we got home and went to bed at a reasonable time. yay!
sunday morning we made pancakes and bacon for breakfast. clementine got picked up. it was a bye week for soccer, so no game. azalea and i went to the library and venture coffee together. we pretty much lounged around the house the rest of the day. arlo came over to hang out with ashford for a few hours. it was a restful sunday.
this thursday is the fall festival and friday morning i head to ocean shores with friends!
