property updates, beach saturday, relaxing sunday

it feels like we're getting into a pretty good groove with school and activities now. except for the fact that it keeps getting a little darker outside each morning when we have to wake up. yikes...

last tuesday thatcher took the day off work and went up to our property and built this compost bin. isn't it pretty? :)

the kids had soccer and karate tuesday night, but i only had to drive to one :)

on wednesday we got this picture from our builder that the well driller was at our property. look at how huge that thing is! it turned out they needed to drill deeper than originally thought to get to enough water, but they reached it at 175 feet.

we also got a permit issued (required by the washington dept of transportation), so we can move forward with putting in a driveway. super exciting! this process has been (and will continue to be) slow moving, but every small step feels monumental right now.

the kids had soccer and karate again thursday night.

friday after school, fritz came over to hang out with ashford. then kay came over to hang out with me and have a glass of wine on the deck. :) the weather has been so beautiful this month! azalea stayed after school for two hours to hang out with friends outside. thatcher was gone for the evening in tacoma for a preview ride of the new light rail, so the kids and i got 'scooters' for dinner and watched 'elemental.'

saturday morning azalea and i went to the library and grocery store. after lunch the kids and i met some friends at golden gardens for one last hurrah of summer beach weather. it was the most gorgeous day for it and felt like a mini vacation. what a treat!

we made greek chicken pita sandwiches for dinner, then thatcher and ashford watched a movie together. azalea and i watched 'pitch perfect' upstairs. (it's almost impossible to all agree on a movie these days).

sunday morning we all slept in (wahoo!) and then made waffles and bacon for breakfast. thatcher left in the late morning to go to tacoma again for his volunteer shift answering questions at the new light rail station. after lunch, azalea headed out with simone's family to see simone perform in a music show at the tractor tavern in our neighborhood. she ended up being gone all afternoon. ashford met his buddies at the park. i did a lot of reading on the deck and watched some netflix. it was a nice, relaxing sunday.

my mom comes to visit in two days, so we are excited for that!
