back in seattle: unpacking, mohai museum, karate
it always feels strange to come back to seattle after being in minneapolis for a long stretch. it sort of feels like we left one life and came back to another. it was also really hot the first few days after we got back and we only have air conditioning in one room of our town house, so that wasn't fun. then the air got smoky from wildfires over the weekend. i felt like i was drowning in unpacking, work catch up, laundry, cleaning, and grocery shopping for days, but everything is finally feeling settled again.
we didn't have any plans last thursday aside from getting settled in, but my friend beth texted in the morning asking if we wanted to join her and her daughters audrey & eliza at the mohai museum in the afternoon. it's a history and innovation museum in south lake union. i hadn't been there in at least 5 years. the kids have gone there on field trips. it was fun to walk around and look at everything. the kids were able to explore the museum on their own as well, which is a nice perk of having big kids.
in the afternoon, ashford's friend trent came over to hang out and i took azalea to northgate to look for some new school supplies/clothes. it was a successful trip! i also got a new laptop for work (my other one was 9 years old, so it feels really exciting). thatcher and the kids watched the mario movie and i caught up on one of my shows.
in the afternoon fritz came over for a few hours to hang out with ashford and azalea and i went to goodwill. exciting stuff :) it was very hot and smoky and we aren't able to have our windows open, so we decided to get mod pizza for dinner.
