the rest of grandma jan's visit, the little mermaid, baseball playoffs
hello june! my mom has gone back home, we are in the final month of school (and all the activities that go along with that), the weather has been incredible (but no rain here for this long has serious consequences).
last tuesday evening ashford had his first baseball playoff game. they played a team that they lost to a few days before...but ended up beating them 16-0 this game. what the heck! the boys were very excited. the tournament is double elimination so they had at least two more games to go after their win. i was glad my mom got to see a couple games while she was here. we had a nice little cheering section :)
on thursday morning i went to the gym and then my mom and i met up with our friends joe and alice for lunch at lockspot cafe. they were my neighbors here a few years ago and they love seeing my mom when she's in town.
in the evening ashford had another baseball game, but they got pummeled this time. oh well. it was a beautiful night! they have at least one more game to go, the next one is monday evening.
friday morning my mom and i ran some errands then we hosted vanessa for lunch on the deck. we made BLTS and they were so good! my mom and vanessa always enjoy catching up with each other.
azalea said goodbye to grandma that morning because she was off to a sleepover at her friend lilah's after school. she's made some really great friends in 6th grade and it makes me so happy for her. thatcher had a work happy hour in the evening so my mom, ashford, and i made dinner and hung out.
saturday morning thatcher took my mom to the airport bright and early, then he headed up to our property to water the trees because there has been no rain for a month. yikes. ashford and i hung out for most of the day because azalea was at her friend's until the late afternoon. in the afternoon we went over to hang out with fritz and his dad matt (kay is out of town). it was beautiful weather for hanging out in the backyard. then fritz came to our house for a couple hours. thatcher and azalea got back in the evening. we had leftovers for dinner and every one was super tired by the end of the day. azalea and i fell asleep in my bed at 9pm.
sunday morning we all slept in til 8:30. it's been a long time since that has happened. we made biscuits and eggs for breakfast and thatcher and i drank our coffee on the deck (one of my favorite things to do in summer). we had no plans until azalea's soccer game at 5pm. azalea hung out with sisi most of the day, thatcher went for a walk and ran errands, and i read on the deck and hung out with ashford. azalea's soccer game was her last one of the spring season. for almost the entire game it was 0-0 and in the last 3 minutes the other team scored and her team lost :(
