mini golf outing, hair cut, azalea's birthday weekend
last tuesday night ashford had baseball practice. on wednesday after early dismissal, i took azalea, ashford, and fritz mini golfing at interbay golf center. rebekah and arlo met us there and i supervised the kids while she got some work done. let me tell you, taking three 9 year old boys mini golfing is a lot like herding cats. they were so wound up and it was almost like the mini golfing itself was an afterthought to the rest of their antics. we all survived and mostly had fun ;)
friday morning i got my hair cut. i see a stylist at ulta store's salon. they closed the one i had been going to for years and reopened a little further away. it's a nice new store/salon though, and my stylist is still there! i definitely went for a chop :)
friday evening ashford had practice again. the skies were looking ominous when it was time to take him. they only got 20 minutes in before it was down pouring and they had to end the practice. we made an easy dinner and watched a movie with the kids.
saturday morning azalea and i headed out for some birthday party errands. we got snacks/drinks, a cake, and balloons at fred meyer for her friend party later in the day. her friends got dropped off at our house at 1pm. it was fun to meet them since she walks to school with sisi and i haven't gotten to meet her new friends this year. we all took the bus to wallingford to go to the cat cafe (second year in a row. her request!). we got drinks and enjoyed playing with the cats for an hour.
then we came back to our house for snacks, presents, and cake. it was a really fun afternoon!
during the party, ashford went to gameworks with arlo and his mom, but he was back in time for cake :) we made tacos for dinner and watched 'the hunger games: catching fire'. azalea is reading the books right now.
sunday morning we woke up with a 12 year old! here's the annual birthday collage. i can't believe we will have a teenager next year. it makes me a little sad, but she just keeps getting better and better!
the kids and thatcher slept in and we made blueberry pancakes and bacon for breakfast. we lounged around for a lot of the morning. after lunch, thatcher and azalea headed to 'portal' a virtual reality gaming place in our neighborhood for the first time. that's what she chose for her fun outing.
