craft nights + a swimming party

i took this picture last monday of the tail end of the fall colors. i'm sad to see them go with rain in the forecast, they sure are pretty! i also participated in #onedayhh and attended a pta meeting at ashford's school monday night.

tuesday evening i met up with some friends in ballard for a craft class at 'monster'. it was a christmas ornament embroidery project. a cute cactus with a santa hat. i've never done embroidery before (i don't think?) and i'm not super crafty, but i got the hang of it and had a lot of fun. we were required to wear masks during the class, but were allowed to bring in outside beverages. ;) there wasn't enough time to finish our projects so we brought them home to finish.

wednesday i got my bi-valent covid booster. my last booster was when the kids got vaccinated last december, so i was definitely due! hopefully we will avoid covid this winter, especially during the holidays and our travel times. thursday i was pretty tired from my booster, so i just laid low at home.

friday morning i met vanessa at sabine for brunch. it's always so cozy there with their fireside tables. and the avacado toast is sooooo good (i know, so cliche).

after school ashford went to fritz's and azalea went to sabine's (the friend, not the brunch spot). ;) which gave me extra time to prep for our dinner guests. thatcher's former co-workers/hiking buddies ryan and korin came over for the first time. the kids and i have not spent time with them before, so it was nice. we made burrito bowls and hung out for a few hours chatting.

saturday morning azalea and i ran some errands in ballard. we all hung out at home for most of the day. at 3:00, she and i headed to ballard pool for her friends audrey/eliza's birthday party. i decided to stay and hang out with some other parents. azalea had a blast swimming (she even passed the swimming test to swim in the deep end on her own for the first time), so we were both very proud of that. they had snacks and cupcakes after swimming.

we picked up some dinner from the deli at ballard market after and then watched a movie the rest of the night.

sunday morning we made waffles and bacon for breakfast. azalea and i braved the grocery store to do some thanksgiving shopping. it was super crowded! we hung out at home all afternoon. in the evening, ashford and i went to rebekah & arlo's to hang out with some other moms/sons and finish up our craft projects from tuesday night. rebekah ordered pizza and we sat by the fire. it was such a nice night. an i finished my ornament. it's not perfect, but i'm pretty proud of it. ;)

now we are kicking off thanksgiving week! there is no school for the kids this week. my brother is flying here as i type this. i cant wait. and on friday i fly to minneapolis for my high school reunion.
