every september when i go back and read my september posts from years past, i come across my annual "currently" post and it inspires me to write a new one. so here we go!
right now i'm currently...
appreciating: that school was able to start after a one week delay. summer is fun, but by september we are all ready for some structure. i'm also appreciating that life feels as much like before-covid than than it has in 2.5 years. it was hard to imagine this being the case even 1 year ago. when i read my older posts about when we were in the thick of the shutdowns, it makes me shudder.
looking forward to: first, my mom is coming to visit for a week on monday! we have some fun things planned and i love getting to be with her for a whole week. it will never get easier living away from family, that's for sure. my brother is also coming for thanksgiving week. finally, our family booked our annual new years getaway. we'll be spending 4 nights on the hood canal again, actually just up the road from the place we stayed last year. i'm crossing my fingers for snow, because it was so magical and cozy last year.
wearing: seattle has had pretty nice weather so far this month. i've worn shorts and short sleeves for a lot of it. we've only had a handful of cooler days where i've worn jeans and long sleeves. i know soon enough i'll be wearing cold weather clothes for the next 6+ months. i'm excited to wear my new chelsea boots from nordstrom rack and my new sneakers from target.
reading: i have a goal to read 50 books this year and i just finished my 38th. the last two that i read were "the hypnotist's love story" by liane moriarty, which is a fictional story about a woman who is a hypnotist and dates a man who has a stalker. the other was "maid" by stephanie land, which is a memoir of a woman who lives in poverty while raising her young daughter. it was based in washington, so that made it extra interesting. they also made it into a show on netflix. both books were good!
watching: i usually have one or two series i'm watching (streaming). sometimes they take me the course of many months to watch. i try to watch something current that gets recommended to me, but i also love the comfort of an older show. i just finished season 11 of call the midwife. i adore that show and hope it never ends. i'm also on season 4 of 9 of seinfeld. it's a show that i was too young for when it aired in the 90's and my brother is a big fan, so i decided to watch it. i love the 90's nostalgia and the NYC setting.
listening to: i'm really in need of some new music, but fall always makes me wanna play all of the indie playlists. van morrison, james taylor, and the belfast cowboys all get a lot of play as well. is it too early for christmas music? ;)
eating: crock pot season is upon us! i've already made a roast with potatoes and veggies, which was delicious. next up will be the tumeric ginger soup i started making a couple years ago. and maybe a chili. i mentioned thatcher made us apple crisp last weekend. i also want to make some sort of pumpkin bars and pumpkins pancakes. and i've switched to pumpkin spice creamer...until i get my fill of it. yum.
