bainbridge overnight and some other tidbits
last tuesday vanessa and i had a little date to costco. i don't have a membership and i haven't been to a costco in 10 years, but i really wanted to get a certain kind of salsa they sell there (that my mom introduced me to), so i asked vanessa to take me. ;) of course you don't go into costco for salsa and come out with just salsa. i stocked up on lots of stuff we go through a lot of in this house: toilet paper, goldfish crackers, sparkling water, z bars, etc.
friday night we made tacos for dinner and watched the (final!) ice age movie.
saturday morning i was up early to catch a ferry from downtown seattle to bainbridge island. vanessa joined me for a 24 hour visit to see our friend meredith who lives there. meredith picked us up at the ferry terminal and we went to a coffee shop in town called "black bird." then we went in a couple shops.
at noon we had a reservation for goat yoga at smithshyre farm. yes, you read that right. haha! it is held in a barn and according to their website, goats naturally help you center yourself. ;) we had to try it out. it was quite the experience - the goats climb all over you, and go to the bathroom through out the class. they also chew on your clothes and hair, but they are so dang cute and loveable. at the end they brought out some teeny tiny babies that were born just a few days before. they encourage pictures and videos during the class, which is nice. i did about 2 minutes of actual yoga, because i wanted to play with the goats more.
our clothes and hair were so filthy after the class that we had to go back to meredith's to shower before doing anything else. after we were all freshened up, we headed to eleven winery for a tasting. it was super rainy out, but they had a covered area with little gas fireplaces and it was really cozy.
then we went back to downtown winslow for dinner at bruciato. we had the most amazing salad, meatballs, and pizza. so good.
we ended the night back at meredith's for drinks, a 90s dance party, and movie watching. it was a fun night. sunday morning we all slept in, then meredith made us a delicious breakfast casserole. we hopped on a 12:30 ferry back to seattle where thatcher and the kids picked us up. i'm so glad we could do this mini getaway.
thatcher and the kids had fun too while i was away. azalea had a (very chilly) futsal game on saturday. they also ordered mod pizza and watched a movie. tomorrow we are supossed to have our first 60 degree day, which is exciting! and ashford starts baseball on wednesday night. moving right along...
