#onedayhh: 2021 edition
i think it's been a couple years since i've done a blog post after participating in #onedayhh on instagram. if you don't know, it's a social media challenge where you document your day hour by hour (at least one picture or video each hour). i love getting a peek into other people's lives and i love having a snapshot of what our life looks like right now to look back on, so here is what i posted for november 9th, 2021.
7:15 am // every one in our house is up for the day. we all usually wake up somewhere between 7-7:30 during the week (and on the weekends too, honestly). thatcher is getting ready to go into work (he goes about 2 days/wk right now). we make the kids and ourselves breakfast (and coffee, of course!). ashford is a bit grumpy in the mornings, so we try not to provoke the bear ;) school doesn't start until 8:55 am.
8:20 am // i probably shower about 5 days/wk, but today was not one of those days ;) dry shampoo for the win! i tried to snap a couple pictures of the kids in the morning, but they
protested. they usually have quite a bit of time to fill before school
so in addition to eating breakfast, getting dressed, brushing teeth, and
going potty, they play/fight and azalea likes to read. we cut out
morning tv time during the week when school started. makes me feel like
they can have endless screen time by the evening ;)
8:45 am // we leave the house for school. it's just a half block away, which is so nice! sometimes azalea leaves before us, but we all walked together today. it's 48 degrees out and sunny, but so windy! masks are required for the kids at school, but also for parents dropping off on the playground and parents are not allowed inside.
9:00 am // i start my work "day" (which is basically 2ish hours of bookkeeping work spread out over many hours). today i am starting off with a 60 minute cyber security training that is required by my employer once a year. fun fun. i dusted the living room while listening to part of it.
11:55 am // i made scrambled eggs for lunch and add in smoked salmon, brie cheese, and peppers from our dinner last night. easy and delicious.
and i can't resist a piece of halloween candy for dessert. it's always sitting there taunting me.
12:30 pm // since i got my work for today (mostly) done, i decided to take a trip to target. i'm on a mission to get my christmas shopping done early this year...also we needed bread :) i took a little video in target, but i don't have any pictures. when i left the store, it was pouring. on the drive home it poured (while the sun was also out) and it was super windy. there was actually a tornado warning in a county near ours. super strange weather day!
1:00 pm // i got an email from seattle public schools informing us that there will be no school friday (in addition to no school thursday because of veterans day) because...wait for it...too many employees took the day off and they don't have enough staff across the district to hold the school day. have you ever heard of such a thing? parents are so angry and rightfully so. i'm glad i don't need to scramble to find childcare. how did they let this happen? what a mess.
2:15 pm // when i got home, i put away my target goodies, checked my work email, and then cleaned the main floor bathroom. again, no pictures from this part of the day. i took a little video of the rain outside.
3:25 pm // i headed to school to pick up the kids. it's raining. i brought azalea's soccer bag because she was supposed to have practice right after school. but very heavy rain was forecasted for the next 2 hours, so her coach cancelled it. she decided to go to our neighbor friend simone's, so simone's brother thelonious came to our house to play with ashford.
